You can make money here. My situation is a little different. I should probably be home for the new demon-seed, and the offer I got was rediculous. I would be a moron to turn it down.

Approved today to join JCT as a team and curious about the quality of JCT's FM's? Reading this thread has made me worry a little bit, of course there will always be a few that complain about anything.. Currently with Roehl and I have never had to wait more than 60 mins for a preplan. Usually have my next preplan before empty and sometimes as many as the next 3. Especially if its Friday and my FM wants to keep me running so I do not need to call after hours or weekend planners JCT seemed to be a good choice for teams because of the long runs etc.. Roehl does not have a TEAM system and getting over 4500 miles would be tough at Roehl Schneider offers a TEAM choice plan where you can pick your loads and they are team specific not available to solo drivers Would like to hear from JCT team drivers and others regarding how efficient the planners are.. Thanks in advance..

IMO/E the biggest issue with planning at JCT isnt the planners or DM's, its the nature of Reefer freight. If an area is overloaded with trucks you're gonna do some sitting because the shippers simply cant load them fast enough. Sometimes you'll sit just because they cant get the product to the shipper quickly enough. And then sometimes you're just in a dead area and it would take too long to get you to any load they have available. Its really no different than any other area of trucking, just more susceptible to certain kinds of problems. On the plus side food moves 12 months a year, period. So its not as sensitive to down swings.
And tossing this out for general info....
I got the word today that I'm getting $210 detention pay for my Bakersfield ordeal. Never even mentioned it except to get a swap setup so the load wasnt late.
JCT isn't perfect but more than a few companies would have left me hanging on the detention.drloveofdfw and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
Popcorn, keep in mind why some of these drivers are leaving. Jarhead got a great job offer in his real career field. Diabello got word on a scholarship and a grant to go back to school. I consider both as L/P success stories. Both were doing this to stay productive and make money. It worked. Owning the truck isnt the only path to success in L/P.
