In summary... everything. He rattled off a laundry list of lights (engine, shut down, regen, etc) that I can't recall half of.

It took 2 guys to tow him in. 1 truck for his rig, and a day cab to tow the trailer. I thought that was weird, because my 780 was towed over 400 miles with the trailer still attached, but que sera, sera.

Well, it's on like Donkey Kong... Glenn tried to swap my CA load with one going to VA, but I assured him I'd make OTD to Oakland & kept this load because I really needed a bit of downtime.

I'm taking a 34 hour break, and have to drive 1700 miles between 7/18 0515 and 7/20 1300 (all times CDT, as is the yard).

Doable, but I'll need to stay on top of my game.

Coming down I-79 the other day I saw a new JCT Kenworth coming south and when I passed it I tried to see the number on the side but it was not on top of hood as I normally see them this one was on the fender between head lamp and tire. Is that going to be the new place for numbers or are you hiding them from me?

This sucks. Truck isn't using any DEF. Got my check engine and the other engine light on. Called breakdown about it and they asked if I had any other lights on and if my engine derated. I said no. They said it is probably just the DEF filter. Told my DM about it and he is working on getting my next load out DFW area to Supulpa so the truck get worked on. It is also funny that it will work for about half the day before it stops working again. So, I thinking a bad sensor or loose wire somewhere.

Doing it there that way if it is something major and not just a filter, I will talk to Jack about getting another truck.

Funny thing is I am getting 7.6mpg with a broken DEF system running 65mph.

When my DEF pump was blown, I put off getting it fixed for a month because it didn't affect my fuel economy or the performance of the engine at all. Then I figured it might be causing some kind of long term damage somewhere somehow that I had no interest in paying out of pocket for when it came out that I didn't repair the pump, so I took it on in for the warranty work.

Mine started 1200 miles ago in California. My truck is performance is better than when it was properly working. But, like you said, might as well get it fixed so not to cause unforseen long term damage.

Def does not affect mileage, it is used to help in the reduction of NOx emissision. Def is sprayed into the exhaust which is aft of the combustion process.

All this after treatment crap on trucks does effect mpg. There are pre emission engines that get just as good or better mpg than the new engines. The better the mpg the lower the emissions. The dpf filter restricts the exhaust and the motor is forced to use exhaust with the EGR valve instead of clean air for combustion.

Putting the EGR valve on the motor and making it use dirty air for combustion lowered mpg and didn't have the desired effect the government wanted. So, they mandated the DPF filter which now requires the DEF fluid to clean up the dirter exhaust from a motor being forced to use dirty air. If the motor would be allowed to breath and quickly exhaust the crap, the motor would run more efficiently, the mpg will go up, and the emissions would naturally go down.

A gasoline motor is more pollutant than a diesel motor, but you don't see all this after treatment #### being developed for them. Why? Because they made them more efficient which lowered emissions.

The entire after treatment is unnecessary and is just a way to charge more for less. The DEF fluild (which is basicly just piss.) was developed as a money grab as part of the DPF. The engine manufactures are just starting to understand all this crap that was forced upon them.
