Well, my week is not starting off too good. Showed up at Tyson in Pottsville, AR yesterday to pick up my load and was given some fantastic news.
Drop dead was 16:49 Sunday. Checked in about 15:00. Not ready......nor will it be ready today. WTF?
Seems they are having issues with all the Burger King loads and mine is one of them.
So..........sitting at the Pilot waiting to hear what's going on. They have until Friday afternoon before I bobtail outta here and bobtail home. -
I wouldn't sit there for 5 days waiting on Tyson. Screw that.
Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Agreed. Tyson is bad about that huh.

Why would I?

1. You get a 34 hour restart
2. It's a load going to a specific city you requested.
3. Time to relax, chill, & catch up on anything you need to.
4. The $300 - $500 per day of layover they're gonna pay for doing absolutely nothing (besides getting hours back)Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
OK that is nice
-
Ok. I would for number 4 alone.

600 miles x $1.33 = $798 $1596 total.
600 miles / 7.5 MPG = 80 gallons of fuel used. 160 gallons total.
80 gallons @ $3.69 per gallon = $295 worth of fuel used $590 total.
If its a 1200 mile run, the net is around $1000
Don't forget about your truck payment @ $0.21/mile = $252
The new net is around $750
plus 20 + hours used up
Now if I sit and get paid $300- $500 per day, I net $600 - $1000.
My truck payment is $0
My hours are full.
I've rested, relaxed, caught up on TV shows, etc.
To me, that's a good business decision. Some may not see it that way and that's perfectly fine, but the point is: sitting doesn't always hurt you.
I'm the laziest person I know and I fully take advantage of a situation. LOLBJnobear, damonarnold816, Time4Change and 1 other person Thank this.
