I lived in SoCal for 25 years. The worst thing about driving a truck in LA, other than the bloody CHP, is parking. If you can find it, it's expensive. The worst thing about driving a car in LA is the driving.

    Quick update.

Hubby got in safe and sound today some time. went to eat now he is settled in and needs to sleep. Said he did not sleep much on his long bus ride from you know where he called it. Poor thing. So as the next few days unfold and the journey begins I will up date progress. A wise thing we did was get our rent paid for October since his first check will not be til the 10th of the Month and I am one not likely to pay late fee. So with that said he left on this journey with a few bucks to his name.

That would be great. LoL Will let you know which way they send me off to.
About to figure where I am gonna take some time off at. I know a few spots on both coasts and thru out the heartland to stop off and relax at.

Yes that would definitely help. Just have to relax and remember everything he's getting ready to do is the easy part. The hardest part is being out on the road and that is fairly easy once you get used to how they want things done. Plus remember he's also got all of us on here to help out at any time he may need.

    Hello Jct folks,

Update. Hubby has the flu. Poor thing must of caught something on the GD bus ride for he is not one to sleep well when folks are coming on and off the bus ect and long bus ride took from Friday afternoon til Sunday afternoon to get to Ok. Did not have good rest on the long ride. He's a trooper though he pushed past the flu symptoms and focused on orientation. The road test pasted even though being sick as a DOG poor thing. Nothing worse then having a bathroom issue when your trying to drive a big rig.. no pun intended. Do now he has a driver log in number and now soon he should be back in the motel room to settle down for the night told him to maybe have a cup of soup somewhere. and drink lots of water to flush out the bus crude he got. So far so good. oh and paperwork done on direct deposit..

Feel ya on the flu. I only get sick (with fever) about every three or four years but it totally sux when that happens and you gotta "push on" til you can crash and nurse it. I guess this was my year, it jumped on me last Friday. Service Plaza on the OH turnpike. Spent the night and the next day MISERABLE in the rack downing aspirin and Gatorade, buried under every stitch of cloth in the truck with the bunk heater on full blast, shivering like it was minus 10 (but it was mid 70's). I was lucky in that I had just started running recap and the only way to make OTD was gonna be switch to running nights so that day being the crossover day gave me extra time and I had NO problem being in the bunk "resting" during the day. Fever broke about 10PM and I was cleaned up and "relieved" (you know that AHHH the fever broke feeling) but in "rebuild strength" mode from the fever burn by midnight when my recap hours came back. Coffee and fooded up, made my hours, crashed and did it again and made OTD. Getting stronger each shift. I'm at 80% now but feeling good about everything. Rolling fine and just getting rid of the last sniffles and coughs.

I look at it like this and I am admittedly crazy as an outhouse rat; The Good Lord, God, Great Spirit, Allah, Buddha, Brahma, Great Creator . . . whatever your Faith calls the divine Puppet Master pulling all our strings . . . chose to test the measure of my resolve to become an Independent Operator from DAY ONE. Two hours from the terminal - breakdown, and it just kept getting more and more challenging. I have had a HUNDRED reasons and scenarios to quit and go back to being a company driver, in a VERY short time. All up front and uphill.

I won't do it. I won't quit, I didn't quit, and I won't. I WILL hand John Christner himself that one dollar bill! Every single time something goes wrong and then nature compounds that wrong and the Diesel and Asphalt Gods decide to hammer on me a bit more I just look up and go: "REALLY? THIS TOO? OK. I got this. It's on and do what you want . . . I'm not going back."

Day breaks, sun rises and sets and as I go each mile further the Great Spirit similes on me a little more and eases up just a tad and I get further toward where I wanna be. What is it one of them great religious folks said; "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single footstep." My Granddaddy said: "You know how to eat a whole elephant? Same way you eat a sub sandwich. One bite at a time. Just takes longer to eat a whole elephant and the willingness and perseverance to just keep eating one little bite at a time for a good while. Don't eat elephants; that's not good but do persevere. You will get where you want to go in time if you just keep putting one foot in front of the other long enough. Everything in your way is simply a test of how badly do you want what you want."

    Pretty smart old fart.

    Nite all.

Well sitting in Yakima waiting to pick up half of my load of apples. Only running about 2 hrs early. LoL then off to pick up the rest hopefully early as well then start flying down to FL to drop them off.

Wifeofdz hopefully he's over it soon. Nothing worse than being sick and feeling like crap and having to drive. Never a good combo there.

Aminal what got into you? Laying out all sorts of words of wisdom there.

Hope everyone has a great day on the roads.
