    Update,

Hubbster feels a lot better and so now its from what he said just waiting. Said he's waiting on a truck and had a small interview and the road test is done. So hopefully he can roll on out tomorrow sometime.

I swear, this getting questioned about the #### temp by night shift every time I pickup a load at night is getting old real fast. I know how to read the #### bills and wouldn't put 26 degrees on the loaded call if the bills said -10.

This crap is really starting to annoy the piss out of me.

    Hello Jct folks,

Update on hubby. He's done with orientation he's now picking out a truck he is going over it with a fine tooth comb. So hopefully he can roll out sometime today or tonight. So here is a question if any one can help is it wise to pick a truck with a apu and what will having a apu mean for him as far as fuel mileage or any thing. And is there a extra deduction and for how much and how long just curious. Oh and he did say the folks he has meet so far have been very kind and nice and helpful

If the apu was not paid off by the previous driver, there is a side note $101 for x amount of time. They will go over that part when you sign the lease. I love having the apu on my truck. It uses little fuel and I still manage to average 7.1mpg running 63mph. Of course that varies depending on weight, terrain, weather, etc. But I think it is worth it. My truck has a fridge installed and have a/c out in the middle of the desert and I can sit comfortably while everyone else is sweating or idling burning all that fuel. Also, CARB out in Cali can't say nothing to you about the apu. I also have a 22in flat screen TV and a WiFi enable blue ray player on the apu. I will idle my truck long enough to use my microwave or toaster oven to make my meals. I do that so not to burn out the apu.

Totally agree on the APU. Best investment I ever made. As a company driver I idled away about $45/ DAY! (I was actually a little ashamed when I ran the math) for a/c heat and electricity. It costs me a little under $20/ day (fuel and APU pmt) using an APU. That will go down by about $14.50/ day when I finish paying off the APU. PLUS, the MPG is MUCH better. I struggled to get 6.5 as a company driver because of idle time (it eats into your MPG big time). I do 7.45 as a mean average now. Keep the overspeed percent down, the idle time down and the percent on cruise time up in SensorTracs and the MPG will stay on the higher ends of what you can get with that particular unit. Moving forward in my career I will ALWAYS have an APU.

I'll have to take you on your word for that, though I do sometimes get some kinda "Huh?" replies to my night time Macro 1's. Like "Set to +26 cycle please. Thanks". I'm like; Um. It is. Where I put N in the "is unit set on continuous" box means it's on cyyyycle and where I put 26.0+ in the "unit set at" box means I'm running it on +26. It doesn't bother me, though. I just shake my head and reply: "10-4. Thx."

What IS getting annoying to me is the new automated "We haven't received your AM/PM Check/Reefer Status . . . please stop at your first safe opportunity and send a Macro 1" messages. I guess if you don't send one within a certain AM/PM window the "system" now automatically prompts you to send one. That is annoying. I had been sending one before I started my driving shift, kinda "all is well and I'm rolling", and when I went down for my 10 count. Kinda "all went well and is still well." Then the rolling one and if produce then two phone calls kinda evenly between. Time for morning was like midnight to 9 or 10 AM. Time for evening was like 3 PM to 9 or 10 PM.

That worked for me. Worked for Ginny (before she bailed to go do rail - grrr I want her BACK as my DM!) and worked for night shift too. I'll switch from day running to night running as soon as a restart tank runs dry and I'm running on recap and run nights, starting my shift at midnight as soon as my hours recap. Night shift doesn't bother me in the least except for that first crossover day. After that it doesn't matter. I'll run all night long and sleep in the day. "NIGHT FLIGHT" LOL. Then I switch back to days when I get a load that lets me and I got the hours in the 70 bank to do it with and all the times work. No problemo. So I send my Mac 1's like sense dictates - beginning and end of driving. System don't like that and apparently ignores my Mac 1's sent outside it's new windows and bugs me to tell JCT what it already knows. I'm on time, temp's good and it looks good for OTD.

    That is annoying to me.

The annoying part for me is that it sends that reminder a couple minutes past the time. They could have at least set for at least 15min past the time.

I sent my 3pm check at 2:59pm and it still sent me the stupid reminder.

Outgoing QC messages get queued into batches. That way, the company pays less per message.

    Hi everyone,

Ok update. After the two days of orientation hubby could not leave. Seems there was a mix up on some paperwork that needed to be corrected. Then on Wednesday had to wait for a truck. Got truck a 2014 with a apu and a refrigerator as well did the lease sign on the dotted line and went over the truck with a fine tooth comb to find out the brakes needed to be done up real good. So he went back to the motel room and now today in the truck since this am got a load out to Texas somewhere he did not say where just Texas. So here is my question how is the payroll set up in order for him to even see maybe a check next week. Does it run like on Thursday today til Tuesday next week for a Check on Thursday or is pay on Friday. Thanks guys. Be safe out there.
