I prefer running at night too but the new very black truck doesn't have an APU and the a/c is marginal at best so no daytime sleeping for me.

I was listening to the Road Dog on the ol' satellite radio and California is really taking the truck emissions thing too far. They are now looking at passing rules for zero emissions on trucks by 2030. Their own cars pollute more than the trucks now.

Well maybe we will be lucky and those idiots choke themselves out. There's no way that will happen and still be profitable.

If carb was really about air quality they would do what japan does. The older a car is the higher the registration taxes. Eventually you get to a point that people have to make choices. Do the same with property taxes for both business and residential. Target the real trouble spots which pretty much means LA and most of the inland empire. The real problem stems from too many people in an area with a very unique climate. Time to target the real problem.

As an ex flatbedder I'm still getting used to the ins and outs of reefer. I think it's so stupid to have lumper fee's. Even though we are reembursed the cost of the lumper fee I don't see why we the driver must pay someone to offload us... it's your product you can either unload it or not get it in my opinion. I still do all the stuff we have to to pay the lumper I just think the whole thing is stupid. When I was running flatbed myself and another guy were delivering pvc pipes to a job site and the workers were all union and arguing over who's responsibility it was to off load us. After a few hours of that the guy I was with undid all but 1 strap and put the left side of the truck on an incline and cut the strap. They were pretty quick to get me offloaded after that happened. Me personally in that situation I would have just sat there and collected detention.
