They also have a bad problem of leaks around the marker lights.

It's probably your XM radio antennae that is loose.

That has been the main cause of water leaks.
Look at your marker lights. If they have condensation on the inside that may be a contributing factor. Both are covered under warranty; lights and antennae

Didn't you bobtail to the truck stop? If you did, then that can be logged as off duty driving.

Absolutely. If you dropped your trailer and bobtailed out of there, you are now on personal conveyance and not obligated to log any driving out on duty time. You are going to be returning to the same location you went off duty.

It's the same thing as if you went to a customer/drop yard and dropped your trailer on the morning, bobtailed around town, doing whatever you wanted in your truck, then return to your trailer and continue your work. ALL that time between the drop and hook is of duty time, driving or not.
If you drove 3 states over and back, it's all of duty driving. You are not hooked to company equipment, you are not doing any work.

Ummm. No. Using your truck in any official capacity (bobtailing to pick up load, empty trailer to shuttle or use, etc) cannot be logged as off duty.

The only I use off duty drive is when I bobtail home. That's all I'm saying about it.

Then you are wasting hours. You are not working. You are waiting to work. Your time in that bobtail is yours, not JCT, not the customer, not D.O.T.

When you go to the yard and drop a trailer and are waiting for another trailer to come in or even if your next load is already there, but you bobtail out 1st and go to Wal-Mart, restaurant, or anywhere for that matter, that driving time is of duty driving.

As far as using your truck on an official capacity, the official part was over the moment you dropped your trailer. Going to the truck stop is not official capacity.

You log the way you see fit and I will log the way I see fit. I don't ever use my truck for personal use when I'm on the road. Not even when I'm at the yard. Like I said, the only time use PC is when I am going home.

    End of discussion.
