Anyone know how much weight per cog you transfer when moving the 5th wheel? I normally never touch it, but I will need to for this CA load if I want to put more fuel in the tanks.

I drive a freightliner if that helps.

I think it's 500lbs per hole. Don't remember though. Its been over a year since I slide my fifth wheel. I have mine on the second hole from the front and I don't ever have a need to move it.

I suggest you find a "permanent" spot for your 5th and NEVER move it. On a Freightliner, the second spot is good. Moving it back so you can add fuel may negate the benefit of buying cheaper fuel by decreasing your economy. As much as the winds have been howling lately, don't give up any more than is necessary.
Also, if on 40, you'll burn enough fuel across the desert before hitting a scale. I haven't seen Cajon open in months.
    Just my thoughts

Hey Steel, what about the Petes? I had mine 2nd notch from front the other day, was 13300, 32400, 33100. Moved it back 2 I think it was. Ended up 12600 something. Might better check that in the morning.

Honestly couldn't tell ya bout KW or Petes. I keep my gap as little as possible between the reefer and back of cab. Yes I'm a little heavy on steers, but most states don't care about the 12,000 lbs.

If that was the case, I could never haul a load ever as I'm 12,300 on my steers and 21,280 tractor with full tanks when bobtail

Being heavy on my steers has never caused issues with my tires. I stay on top of my air pressures, alignment and balancing. Last set of steers got me over 223k miles, so the popular theory of ruining tires just went out the window......and fell 86 floors to the trash dump

About 150lbs a notch on a fine tooth. I move mine quite often.

Check with your DM about a new fuel card if yours had a 003 as the second set of numbers
