    Hey Baby!!

Glad you are still around!! I know you are running hard to make some money! Hopely freight keeps picking up.

The weather here (NY) is suppose to be getting slowly better 50 tomorrow and 58 Thursday. But then cool down this weekend but spring is in the air!!! Hopefully it keeps getting warmer but you know how the northeast weather is so fickel!!!

Hey everyone. I'm home for a couple days and as always, lots to do in a short time. I'd planned on writing about a few of the runs in the past month and still do. But my list of things to do while here grew rather unexpectedly so we'll see how the time goes. :biggrin_25521:

But first I feel this is really important so I want to get it out there.

As many of you know, I'm a biker and the Harley chapter I belong to has done many benefit rides each year for many years. I'm a firm believer in giving a helping hand to those in need and quite honestly, doing so while enjoying something you love is well.....simply the best of both worlds. Having become a driver and running as I do means I'll miss much if not all of that and it's been very hard to accept not being a part of that world anymore. I miss it very much. For me, there's simply no more rewarding feeling than knowing you've helped someone who needs it.

But it would seem (as always), the good Lord has found a way for me to once again be a part of doing something good for those in need while doing something I love.

I received a PM the other day from cpape. He informed me he's on the Board Of Directors for Camp Albrecht Acres, a summer camp for people with special needs. He asked my opinion of, and help with an idea he has for raising funds which is the only means by which the non profit camp is supported.

His idea is to ask drivers to donate .01 per mile for one week. So for a driver with a 2000 mile week that would be $20.00. A very small amount for one but if many drivers participate, a very BIG help to the camp which is dedicated to helping so many.

Not only do I think this is a GREAT idea, but I'm honored he asked me and I intend to jump all over this opportunity to once again be a part of helping others. It just doesn't get any easier than this folks. Simply drive like I do anyway, and know I'm helping folks as I do. :biggrin_255:

I'm also very pleased he has both the permission and support of this forum to help spread the word to many of us drivers. I KNEW this forum was a CLASS ACT!! :biggrin_25525:... [IMG]

So, I've decided to become a part of this as best I can and I would ask all those who can to help out. If you can't contribute money at this time, it would be great if you'd still help cpape spread the word around. You know, if one person tells two, and they each tell two etc. etc. ... it will spread fast and I believe this could be a very good source of help for the camp while not being financially painful for anyone. Below is a copy of the PM he sent me.

    Chris--

I think you are aware that I am on the Board of Directors for Camp Albrecht Acres, a summer camp for people with special needs. I am hoping to create a fundraiser for the Camp by asking members of this forum to get involved. I have already gained the permission, and support, of the forum moderators. My thought was to ask drivers to donate .01/mi for a week. For someone running 2000 miles that would equate to $20. From a driver's perspective do you think this would be a reasonable request? Would you be willing to help me get the word out? You have a significant group of contacts on the forum. My hope is that I could get a large group to give a little, and it won't be painful for anyone. Let me know what you think about the idea. Our website is www.albrechtacres.org. Hope to hear from you soon.

    -------------------------

In these tough economic times, organizations like Camp Albrecht Acres really feel the pinch because they depend on donated funds to do the good work they do. As folks have to tighten their belts, those funds can diminish and even dry up all together. By asking just a little from many, they (and we), can keep the gift of Giving moving along.

Together, we really can work miracles folks.

I'll put the website address for Camp Albrecht Acres in my signature. Take a little time to learn more about them and see if you'd like to help out. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated folks.

Thank you and God Bless. :biggrin_25514:
