You get your load assignment via the Qualcom, after you send your load confirmation (macro 1) you then receive the load routing (route they want you to take) and your fuel routing (where they want you to fuel and how much to put on). -
seems like a good idea, im sure not all companies run the same though.
-
your right they dont, typicly they handle this in 1 of 3 ways.
1) Like W/S does and some other good company's do, they give you a route and places to stop for fuel, but dont care if for some reason you need to go another way or fuel somewhere else.
2) Like Conway Truck load and Millis and I'm sure more companies do, they give you a load and you figure out how to get their and they give you a list or a book of truck stops that you can stop at and you pick the ones that work for you on that load....
3) Like the Big Sheety companys do, They give you a route and you FOLLOW it OR they will either or BOTH Not pay you for any Out Of Route Miles and or Charge you for each and every Out Of Route Mile. And They tell you where to fuel, or face whatever they do to punish you for going elsewhere.

Some of you need to compare trip envelopes to actual paystubs, you would be supprised what your not getting on OOR miles...

I get paid for every mile my truck moves and yes i check my pay stubs.....

Hey there Chris and all the other regulars on this thread. Just starting to think about getting into trucking myself and I wanted to say how much I really appreciate all of the posts talking about what you've done and gone through the past year. Really gives me a bit of a feel for the good, the bad and the ugly!
If and when I go ahead with my plans, I hope I can achieve even half the success I've been reading about here. -
Hey geoff
Welcome to TTR and Chris's thread!! There are alot of good threads for newbies to read and many are referenced in here or other threads. Ask lots of questions!!!! -
Hey sammycat,
Thanks for the reply! I'm a firm believer in reading through the threads and learning that way. I don't like asking questions if the answers are already out there for me to find. I guess some might say that makes me a little shy and unwilling to just barge in with a bunch of questions you've all heard a million times before, but I prefer to think of it as being respectful of my betters and resourceful enough to find the answers I'm looking for without having them handed to me on a silver platter.
In any case, I do like to say thanks to those people (and you're definitely one of them) who have gone out of their way to talk about their experiences and make life easier for guys like us who are thinking of following in their footsteps! -
I have learned alot from the members on TTR by reading and asking questions. I do not drive but got on here when the ex was a newbie and I was trying to help learn rules, regulations, HOS etc. I am now with a driver who has 16 years experience so talk about the old and new to the business!! I'm glad you are learning-this is a tough business and the guys and gals in these threads can be straight forward, no nonsense but also the kindest and most down to earth folks that I have ''met'' in my life-and as an extra added bonus: can be ALOT of fun!!!
Again so glad to have ya here!!!Wedge Thanks this.
