With diesel prices over $4 a gallon and rising I expect RV sales and production to drop like they did in '05
-
Difference now is employment is stable.
Not sure if continue or not but yards are full. -
Is that per unit or per load? Meaning would a tow and haul get double or close to it?
Thanks
Clarance -
I think tow and haul get 1 and 1/2. -
OK guys I passed more than once on Star's offer to haul RV's but now I need to look into this! Things are tough and I might not have a choice. I have a truck that can handle and everything that could be done to get better MPG has been done. Will the companies check for emmissions? I realize that i cannot take this truck to Cali. so will I be missing out on a lot of loads?
It seems to me that it will be rough to make a living wage since my truck payment is $1057 a month!
With a payment like this is it possible to NOT be in the red?
I have used the truck to haul lease return cars at a $1 a mile each with NO BACKHAULS and it was tough..but having three trucks behind you with one sitting over the bed is a tough pull! So I'm wondering if the wind drag with an RV would be close to the same?
For now I'm brokering loads for the lease returns but I can't stand the work!
I live in East Texas near Tyler and the oil field hotshot stuff is really slow here right now I guess because no o e is hiring.
Any help, advice, leads welcome indeed. -
Well horizon called today and they will for sure hire me .....now can I make a living at it? This is the big question!
Reed Logistics also contacted me and said I can come in for orientation along with two other trucking companies.
So big trucks or little trucks this is the question, freedom means a lot to me so I will take a bit less to drive my own truck but it is work after all and the bottom line is bringing money for my large family.
So what I really need from you guys who haul RV's is to know if you really are making it.
Who has hauled them for more than two years who DOES NOT have another source of income or is retired?
There is no doubt that with a trucking company I can make a living and have many many more jobs to choose from but I do prefer the 1 ton but so far its been rough on the $$$ thing.
Come on guys sound off if your hauling RV's and doing well! -
On the road be available tomorrow.

My wife does not make much.
If he wants to know more on it and not a negative way then I will give thoughts.
However, I am concerned about the payment and will be able to make comments after in motel and using laptop.
