Hello. I've been lurking on this forum for awhile now. I decided to register to translate someone's real bad post structure. A notification told me not to be rude and to introduce myself shortly afterward. Usually I ignore those, but as right now I have nothing better to do, I figure I'll go ahead and do so.
I'm completely new to trucking.
I've always liked to drive, willingly being the Designated driver of just about everyone I know. It was about eight months ago, as some criminal accusations and a divorce were finally winding down and clearing up and I was looking for a good job, when it was suggested to me to be a truck driver. It never even entered my mind before that. After some serious research and evaluation, I decided over the road truck driving was the right path for me.
I spent a lot of effort trying to find a way to finance the situation, and discovered my GI bill from the Military would finance a school. I went to the United States Truck Driving School, a 160 hour course out of Midway, Colorado.
The Legal issues I had continue to haunt me, even as the charges were dropped and every time I went before a judge regarding them they said there was no merit to the accusations (even as they denied me visitation and decision making with my son, and even as my Ex wife inflicted significant physical harm on him that there is nothing I can do about... ), having actually cost me no less than 2 jobs so far and counting. (Werner pulled a pre-hire offer when they checked my background and found *gasp* a dismissed criminal charge!)
Right now I'm struggling to survive waiting to find an OTR outfit that will hire me (even as the Local companies tell me they want me. Reading some of the stories here I find that quite funny, understandably. The simple fact is, I don't want local. The road calls to me as it always has, and driving local just doesn't cut it.)
I'm currently using this forum to hear about places that sound like potentials and applying for them. So that's about it. Thanks for reading!
