So, this question is more for Ryder Canada but im assuming that in general the same rules would apply in the states as well - or atleast somewhere close.
the economy is ####. we northerners are feeling it even more due to less cross border activity taking place. I really dont know how long we can hold on to our midsize fleet.
The problem at hand is lots of equipment not being utilized properly which is eating into revenue and putting us upside down. We had to pay a very small deposit on each truck we took from Ryder Canada, but what are the penalties if any when returning a Ryder truck back besides loosing that deposit ?
they wont repo the house would they claiming depreciation and breach of 3 year lease !

I doubt that ryder could repo anything you didn't put up for collateral.
That might be more of a Canadian law thing to ask. -
TALK TO RYDER
Don't you deal with an account manager?Midwest Trucker and Socal Xpress Thank this. -
How big is “mid size” fleet?
This is one of many reasons I don’t lease equipment is the predicament your in so I’ll be interested to see what happens. Lastly, write your congressman and tell them to pass the USMCA now! -
I was present when a neighbor got released over the phone, on speaker, from a lease to own tractor in under 3 mins.
The jist of it was i can no longer pay for this, where do you want me to bring it. And a flustered receptionist gave the address. I havent heard of any recourse yet. Wasnt ryder but you see what im saying. If you play good cop bad cop you might be able to secure some written reassurance of a clean break in exchange for intact return of said equipment. Maybe consult attorney in the repo game first.
