Ive had a good run at it myself. But Culture has changed I wont get into it again because the Moderators hammer me on the head for it and I don't need or want any more trouble. I try to be a good boy, but it's changed. Nothing but memories maybe.MACK E-6, FireLotus and negativecold13 Thank this. -
from what you have expressed, I do feel Trucking is a much better choice.. because gettining into it is relatively low cost.. even if you pay $5000 for CDL school most companies offer tuition reimbursement... also, it will only take you a year or two to be able to be with a good company and make decent income.... compare that to the $40,000 + for 4 years of being a full time college student,
Right there with Trucking you are already ahead of the game...
Once you graduate, you still have a few thousand dollars in expenses to get you certifications, licenses and get bonded so that you can jump into the shark tank.. cause now you to get hired as a low level executive and start to prove yourself.. can you get clients, bla, bla, bla,.. the corporate world is a highly competitive cut throat arena... you don't produce you are out.. now you are two years in, still paying off your college debt and you need to open your wallet and pa for your required Continued Education, so you are up to date with all regulations and such so you can spend a hundreds more to renew your certification and licenses... after 4 to 5 years you should be on solid ground with a good client base and all.. the point you would be after only 1 year in trucking.... true, you are probably earning a larger salary.. but, you are also still paying off your college debt..
Not to mention.. you will be in the tank with younger aggressive sharks.. who are tech savvy, grew up with social media, twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, vine, they are familiar with google tag, google attribution and cross channel marketing...
so in my honest opinion, not that you aren't capable of becoming an accountant or anything... I just don't see from any of your posts and what you shared about the career you are leaving that you have even the slightest desire to be one.. or any type of entry level executive... and that you would be happy doing it...
Yes, any job or career is what you make it... and in either one you can make it palatable to suit you and your taste... just when a career is more in your wheelhouse it doesn't take as much spice...x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I like good food served by cute waitresses. I like being an adult with an adult beverage. If I'm not in the Largecar, I am on the steel horse as long as it's warmer than 30degrees. Gun and knife shows and flea markets. I am a Man. It's my responsibility to make sure that I enjoy life. If you do what I do, odds are we will cross paths. First round is on me.
When you go to a full service truckstop, you will see that not all of us are fat, whining sidewalk sissy losers who wait upon the government to do for us what we ourselves lack the courage to do. If a Man gives you a job, do your best. As a Man, you are obligated to do your best every single day. At the end of the day, reward yourself with food and drink.
Reward mama physically every time you see her. Reward her emotionally every time you hear her voice. Life is what you make it, so make it good.
Adios.Middleagedrookie, negativecold13, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
