I'm a positive and full of nonsense type.
    Germanic absurdism...
Like I'd tell anyone: Do a year OTR if you must. Then hunt local.

I left a well paying gig in social services, I've a BA in Human Psych, a Grad Certificate as a Mental Health Rehab Counselor...... For my own mental health: I almost have to work alone. That's why I drive.

    Luck to ya.

Thanks so much for that! Wonderful to hear I'm not alone lol! I don't want my mind to be "handcuffed " to a old career that I've only known

When my dad turned 69, we took him to the veterinarian and had him put down...

...er, wait... I misunderstood the title of the thread. Nevermind.

I don't expect or want to endure the continous losses in old age. A relative is starting to get to where we put her into a nursing home. And frankly the quality of the homes in my area leave alot to be desired.

Reality is a #####- pardon me but I'm 45 going on ####ing 90. I've gotta keep fighting and try to keep any bit of positivity I've got left in me. My 2 cents with my own situation

Something i had forgot to mention...original plan was to buy property and build a house out of reclaimed materials, however, things have changed since...both our moms are getting up there, hers sooner than mine and we need a house to take care of them...if that means driving a bit longer, then so be it...I couldnt imagine them being in a nursing home...not my style...

Tora Tora Tora is all well in good in form of ambition to make a million dollars by lunch and securitize everything to triple it by dinner.

But that Tiger Tiger Tiger turns into a hairball mewing in abject fear and cowardice when confronted with say... Trollstigen in Europe or perhaps.... Loveland in a winter storm with it's huge drop off. Then we will learn if the poor newbie has what it takes to push through and earn that big money.

Well for me it ain't about the " big money " u say- it's about committing forward without cowardice and ignorance.

There is a great deal of loss, waste and spun wheels (Money) because of no informtaion or a desire to blindly charge ahead off the cliff because they cannot wait for the fence rails to be delivered.

I have been horrified at some of the lost motion in trucking. Some made for good stories though so there is that.
