Hello to everybody!
I just got my operating authority and am really nervous about the safety audit. I have a few questions that hopefully you will be able to answer. I am out of Washington State by the way.
1.) for the driver qualifications, is there any examples that I can find from any where? I have looked around and cant seem to find any samples. I think I have everything I need, besides one thing which is really bugging me. Its the previous employer check. What exactly does the Dot audit need to know about previous employment?
2.) If any one could post any personal samples about their fleet inspection file, so that i can get an idea on how its done, that would be awesome or show me a sample online?
3.) is it possible to have a temporary driver or a backup driver that already works as an owner op in a different company while being related to the President of being the backup driver? Like if he wants to help out and go on a trip and declines on getting paid but wants to help as a team driver is that possible?
Thanks. and I hope I didnt confuse you fella's to bad.

Download and read that book: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safety-security/eta/index.htm. If you read the whole thing you will find most of info that you need. This and a lot of calls to the motor carrier services department in my state (FL) got me going.

you must have a file just like you dont know anything about yourself, when you get back the info. from old CO. you worked for 10yrs. ago it will bring back alot, I found you may use drivers that work for another CO. as long as you have papers showing their still working for them.

Thank you. So far I have the Drug Enrollment Program files. I am just looking to see if i can find a fleet maintenance file that i might be able to look at for a reference.
@baha, do i still need to have a file on them if the team trip was a one time thing. i did have them put in on my insurance but my questions are about the drug policy and weather they have to do drug testing to drive in my company on and off as a volunteer to help me out.
