I talked to the Sage school in Sandy, Utah. They have a program for new drivers to train them in a shorter period than the 160 hour course for OTR.
Anybody heard of this program or been through it and was hired by an OIL FIELD company??

I just finished my last day at another Sage, doing their full program. I wouldn't recommend anything less than the full unless you have one of the big company such as Halliburton putting you through it with a job on the other end. (then just go to whatever school they will send you too.) The friend I have in the ND oil fields said his company (midsize) and quite a few of the others require more experience then they used to in order for them to get insurance. My job search was coming to the same conclusion finding that most driving jobs required 6 months to 2 years experience. The full program will keep your options open in case you need to get a year of experience behind the wheel in before you can get an oilfield job. I decided that it was in my best interest, even if I could go straight to the OFs,to get some experience OTR, so I stopped looking into the fields about a month ago.

Thanks man, that's kinda the same conclusion I have come up with. Although I still might try and get the start in Odessa after taking the full course. Good luck,
