Hi everybody,
I have been searching the internet to find a good school near me. The school I have found is Sage Truck Driving School in Evansville, IN. They are a PTDI accredited school and I havent seen any information on the posts about them. I am just concerned about being trained properly before signing with a company. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Numerous people reccomended Sage to me. Alas, there is none close to me, and I'm probably going to go with Scheider if they will take me.

I attended Sage and I thought they were pretty good. Lots of one on one in the truck. Good instructors. They could have concentrated a little more on mountain driving in my opinion, especially since I went thru the course here in Montana (lots of mountain grades!)

Thanks for the info.

Knowing what I know now though, I wouldn't go to SAGE unless I could get a minimum of 6 weeks off from work. Driving at night is a real pain in the butt. Maybe it's just the trucks at our particular location, but the headlights seem to be OFF when they are on. I can't see a darn thing driving the trucks at night, and I know it's not me. I drive the same roads with my car (or my wife's car) at night, and I can see just fine.
You can choose to drive just on weekends (during daylight hours), but then you forget a lot during the week. But if you work days, then you can only drive at night during the week, and that is not good.
They want you go do a couple of drives at night anyway, but try to minimize your night drives. Get time off work to go to SAGE, if at all possible. -Dave -
I am currently going to sage in Henderson Colorado they are pretty flexable with their students for the most part I can not do weekends so they may dobble up my time to help me as I work long hours on the weekends.
zotoa Thanks this. -
I completed Sage's training in Henderson Colo. in March 09. Got 250 mi onthe road driving (included Mtns, night and the infamous Colfax Blvd in rush hour!). Good school but its difficult to get an OTR job right now.

i was supposed to start sage here in indianapolis monday but they guy still hasnt called me back to tell me if my loan was approved, i called him yesterday...he said hed call the loan company and he never got back with me
i was very anxious, maybei ll take my business to C-1 im ready to get going -
Oh, and whatever you do, do it fast. Many companies will only hire you right out of trucking school if you graduated recently (like, within 60 or 90 days). If you graduated in March, you need to get your butt in gear or your truck school is wasted.
Come to think of it, I had a dozen OFFERS for OTR work within my first couple of weeks of school at SAGE. Didn't they let you fill out some apps? -
But if you can't scrape up the cash somehow, you could always get training from Schneider for "free". Hey, from what I've read, they are the least evil of the companies for newbies to get free training from.
