That was more sarcasm and your point) as well..and you'd probably not be amazed on how many drivers have no idea not only what it does.. and even where it is in the truck

I've been pulled over the top more than once.. its not real common, but its what happens.. since most of the super truckers are all stacked up down in the bottoms.. its not very busy up on the top.

Yes.. but since all that stuff weighs a ###### ton and rarely used.. most drivers have never seen nor used one.. sort of like the "blue button"..lol

I suppose there’s folks on here that think running the mountains without jake brakes was pert near impossible and a death trap. Suppose too shouldn’t talk about trucks with steer axle brakes disconnected or not turning service air on to rear pup

I’ve turned off air to the rear pup before , but disconnected steer brakes seem shady.

I never drove one like that but riding with dad years ago it was fairly normal practice . The beer distributor he worked for actually had a valve that control air to the steer axle. On in good weather, off on snowy and icy roads. Coal haulers in southeastern Ohio and WV was common as well. Dads trucks were all late 60’s early 70’s Transtar II COEs

I never ran a jake till I got away from the ltl / linehaul stuff.. I have driven trucks with the "limiting valve" on the dash for the steer axles

I drove some Ford 9000 daycabs for Central Transport, that had the switch on the dash from the factory.
