So I found a #### nice van trailer I wanted to buy, 2004 great Dane 53'x102" air ride with all aluminum wheels, stainless front & stainless doors & it has never had any decals on it. Called on the trailer twice & was told he'd hold it for me, called him again yesterday to tell him I was on my way to come look at it & he said its still here so come on down. I get there 2 hours later to look at the trailer, I walk into his office & tell him I'm here to look at that trailer, he looks at his computer, pauses & then looks at me & says "sorry but someone from our Des Moines location sold it yesterday afternoon". To say I was pissed is a massive understatement. Sorry for the rant but my blood is still boiling over this one.
salesmen, how difficult can it be??

Hate a liar. If I say I'll be there to look at it, tell me then that it's been sold. Blow smoke up my ### I'll never buy from you on principle. Sorry for your circumstance brother.

Man they want to get you into their dealership any way they can. What happened to you is nothing new or different. There are actually training tapes and videos out for "professional vehicle salespersons" that stress getting the customer to come to you, then upselling the customer to whatever you have on hand.
This is true in the automobile sales industry as well.
You need to understand that the salesman is NOT YOUR FRIEND. He is looking at you like the wolf looked at the three little pigs...Toomanybikes, OLDSKOOLERnWV, SAR and 4 others Thank this. -
The dealer was midstates utility in Sioux Falls, SD. Needless to say I'm never stepping foot in there again.

I would have tried to convince him to sell me a better trailer at the same price. Talk to the sales manager and complain about the treatment you were lied to.

Same thing happened to me from Vander Haags out of Sioux Falls . Then they had the audacity to tell me that they would see what they had " LYING AROUND " that I could look at . Bought somewhere else .

I kinda thought something was up when we walked out on the lot to look at a different trailer that had decals on the side, rusted rear door frame, beat up interior & all steel wheels, when I asked how much he told me $9,000. I said no F'n way is this beat up piece of crap worth the same money as the one I initially called on & then the salesman had balls enough to ask me why I thought it was a piece of crap.

Big Don hit the nail on the head. Salesman has one mission, get that signature on the deal anyway he can.....anything goes!
Sorry man....at least you walked away...Big Don Thanks this. -
Seriously, the salesman was likely doing exactly what the sales manger WANTS him to do.OLDSKOOLERnWV and SAR Thank this. -
If you wanna hear a real horror story let me tell you about the local Chevy dealer. He would blow smoke up your rectum, he'd tell you everything you want to hear & nothing you don't. Before he'd take you out for a test drive in a new vehicle you had to give the keys to your current vehicle, I guess as collateral. Once you got back to the dealership & into his office he would pretty much hold you hostage until you'd signed for a new vehicle all while he still had your car keys in his pocket so you couldn't leave. He even locked a friend of mine in his office til she would sign the papers, she finally had to call the cops on her cell phone which scared the dealer enough to let her go. Needless to say this dealer went bankrupt 5 or so years ago & is no longer in bussines.
