It's been a while since I was in the west. Best way from Salt Lake City UT to Phoenix AZ? Truck has been acting up a bit trying to overheat and I'm looking for a smooth ride. Who knows the secrets ?

It adds 50 ish miles and a little bit of time going down 89 vs going to vegas (you can see these roads on an atlas)

Can't say either route is easier on the truck. 89 is 2 lane pretty country during the day. Get fuel before you hop on it, plan to not get fuel til Phoenix (fuel is available in flag ... but, as nice as Little America is, you gotta sell a kidney if you want to fuel up there)

I 15 to Las Vegas then take I 515 to US 93 to US 60. In my opinion that is your best option.

    Or

    I 15 to UT 20 to US 89 to I 40 to I 17.

Some people shrug an atlas. A book was written about it in 1957; "Atlas Shrugged." A woman, Ayn Rand, wrote it to help understand her husbands frustration with getting from point A to point B and to gain a better understanding of his OTR job. It's a good read; give it a try.

I have the large print, laminated version. One time I made a big mistake and took the wrong highway, when a 6 looked line an 8. Time for new glasses and a large print atlas.
