Got my health card , cdl permit, enhanced lic (michigan). going to take road test soon, like to get a little seat time first???? I applied for a local gig and he said without 18 months forget it. I really dont want to go over the road, because if i do i will just ditch this house and never look back. My question is where to start ?? i read harvey post and working on a couple things there, also once going is there a better line to be in ??? Heavy haul, Tanker etc etc??

    Sorry for the same ol....

Where in might are you? NTB takes students and run 5 days on 2 off with many runs getting you back through the house during the week.

yup, especially if they're promissing that kind of home time. But becareful... if it's on a sliding pay scale (and just guessing here). They're going to be giving you some low ### miles if you're regional (2,000 would be the most you'll see in a 5 day window as regional*apx*).

Sliding Pay Scale could be a bad thing or a good thing. If you're running alot of short miles, YAY you get paided 28 cpm. If you get runs over their set brackets your pay gets reduced by their standards.

My advice, go OTR for 6-8 months, get some experience and see if you like trucking. If you do, balls to the wall. If not... then try regional.

Thats really not a laughing matter, you will see dogs mostly on leshes with other drivers, at truck stops, or rest areas, but no more then you would see anywhere else, so you should be ok.

Cmon down to Midland Texas and drive in the oilfields. I moved here a month ago from Martin Michigan. You will have to look a little, but you will find a job as a newbie if you get here in person and put yourself in front of these people. They all say experience, but some will hire with none.
