Your tying to compare apples and oranges.

You don't end up owning a truck after 2, or 3 years working for someone else or get to pick when and where you run. Sammons structures their leases to get the trucks paid off as quickly as possible, other companies string it out longer and provide a larger pay check.

Leasing a truck is not for everyone but for some it works out well. If it doesn't interest you why are you spending so much time posting in threads about it?

Is Sammons Trucking a great company for lease purchase?

I've been here a little over a year, I have very little to complain about at all. If you have some business sense and want to work you can make it here and OWN your truck in a relatively short time. And before the BS starts, I am a driver not a recruiter, and am in the LP deal.

I don't need your numbers or anything cause I think that's kind of rude, but it seems that it's hard to make a company drivers wage while doing this. Is that true?

Depending on where and how you run, I am pretty sure I you could make more than the average company driver does. I don't run near as hard as I should and still make about what the average company man would. Don't get me wrong there is a learning curve to overcome, I ran my own business for many years in the past, but learning where not to go was all new to me. I have gone to areas that I use to run as a company man to find out the freight is cheap.

Yeah that sounds about right. I just think if I'm making under a grand a week I'm not going to be a happy man. I run hard, so yeah. I got an email from recruiting about 13 pages long explaining everything and I'm still trying to decipher it.

So, if u don't mind me asking, what are some of your stronger areas to run?? I like to run Midwest & Southeast areas, but don't mind branching out to a few other places, as long as it pays good. I've always heard rates from a lot of places out west are relatively cheap, so I just kinda stay away from those spots. So I guess what I'm asking is can one run mostly the eastern 2/3(say, east of I-35)make it on Sammons L/P??

I try to stay east of 35, I do run into Cali, or the southwest as long as it pays well, we usually have a lot of freight in southern California. I avoid the northwest altogether. I live in the northeast so I run up here but generally just so I can go home LOL. It doesn't take too long to figure out where we usually have good freight

Sounds like u run how I like to, except I would PROBABLY stay away from Cali altogether...but IF the rate going in is excellent, southern Cali....yeah, very possible. So running the eastern 2/3 can be done at Sammons & still make good $$$?? Been thinking @ them for a bit, but not too much because I see they have a LOT of freight in & out of the northwest & west areas.

They say you can pull off of any load board...So you can run how you want off of those boards. It's not a bad way to do it. If you can find your own loads and make good money, go for it. I don't think you should worry about where THEY. Have all their freight. There's others who will haul the stuff you don't want. It's your business, run it how you want to.
