The airwaves are free. The content is not, as it is sent via "privately owned satellites".

You can, and will be charged if caught.

 

It's illegal to break encrypted content without permission of the person who owns it. more or less. If they catch you, you'll be charged with theft.

On the other hand, there are free satellite channels you can receive with a satellite dish and a receiver that costs about $100. search for free to air satellite tv or something like that.

you used to be able to crack direct tv but years ago they came up with code that no one at least no one willing to share can crack

they still crack dish, in fact its kinda funny the same time dtv was working on code that couldn't be hacked, dish was doing the same, dtv did it right, dish got hacked within a week of utilizing the new code they wrote, it cost them both tens of millions of dollars and I guess dish just gave up.
I will pm you a website that will tell you the what where and how of doing dish.

one word of warning DON'T be buying card readers,modified recievers or anything else off of E-bay or anywhere on the net until youn know what is going on ,many a person has been busted this way and the fines are nothing to sneeze at.

 

I have one of those in my truck the dishnet days are numbered don't buy anything now till things stabilize.

 

been hearing of the demise of dish for the past 5 years, its bound to happen someday but its hard to tell when.

 

It will be very soon within 6 months for sure......but my crystal ball is out for repairs right now
