Is there a way to save them? I would think it would be wise just to cover your ###. I don't think you can print them out can you?

    Thanks in advance.:biggrin_25522:

The storage capacity on Qualcomms is very small. The device will automatically delete messages after 50 or so.

About the only thing you can do to get a "hard copy" is to have someone from your terminal with computer access to print them out for you. Until someone that is much smarter than me comes up with a website that will allow you to upload your messages onto its bandwidth, driver's are at the mercy of the company.

Another thing to remember is all messages sent via Qualcomm or any other OBC are stored on a server somewhere and therefore accessible by anyone in the IT dept. of that company. Should there be any sort of "illegal" activity documented on the OBC, rest assured there's a file created somewhere in cyberspace.

i think the only one u can save messages one which comes in handy with hometime requests, and messages like "its ok to drop load with out Signature" is on the Mobile Max by Alther... even these new driver tech Devices that USX and Interstate Dist. have do not allow you to save messages, i was throwing a fit about that to the IT department when i got one...

I guess I'll have to manually document any messages that come to me that might be asking me to do something I know I shouldn't be doing. Time, Date, sender and text of the message.

That's one way to do it, but if you're with a reputable company you won't have to worry about it.

I see your experience is 0-1 year. Did you do your homework before you decided on a company?

Another point to ponder. Don't let a lot of hot air get you blown out of proportion in this industry. Yes, there are bad companies out there, but I have yet to hear a credible story about a dispatcher putting incriminating messages on a qualcomm or other obc. That doesn't mean it'll never happen, but at best it's very rare nowadays.

I had a fellow tell me go and buy a disposable camera not a digital one cause you can mess with the image on a digital one.If you get a message you need proof of take a picture of it.Maverick qualcomm will hold 99 messages before it starts to delete it automatically. So you can delete the one you don't need and save the ones you do.Also if you get in an accident you can take pictures from every angle it could save your butt when someone tries to claim something after the fact.I could also see where it would be handy if you where doing a trailer swap and you where picking up a damaged trailer a picture would prove it was damaged when you got it.It is sad we have to think like this but we do.Be safe and C.Y.A Later:iroc:

The problem with digital cameras for the Q/C is poor resolution/picture quality. A good digital camera with a macro function is still the best option.

Yeah, you can change a digital image, but who's to say that you couldn't scan a film picture and do the same thing with it. That's a pretty lame argument, IMO. Sounds like whoever told you that is a techophobe....yanno, someone afraid of technology. Probably an old school driver that, if you were to tell him/her about this website, would tell you that you shouldn't believe anything anyone says on here.

I believe legally, the company is REQUIRED to keep copies for 7 years.

As far as the driver is concerned, the DM is the company.
