i dropped my health coverage in june of 2007. i was paying, roughly, $1100 per month. if i would have continued to pay, i would have spent over $11,000 in the past 10 months. instead, i have covered medical expenses out of pocket. i have spent about $3,000 out of pocket. A SAVINGS OF about $8,000 so far. insurance isn't as important, as timing. insurance is a scam. thank you.

You are very right in your assessment, with not having coverage for the doctor visits and ancillary services.

What we all should do is only carry Major Medical coverage, a much cheaper alternative, that covers hospitalization and major procedures, and save the money that supposedly covers the little things for paying for office visits and prescription drugs out of our pockets.

If all of us did this we all would save huge amounts of money over the years. :yes2557:

hey driver, look into an HSA (healthcare savings account) they have a very low premium but a high deductible. the money you put into the savings account is tax free i think

it can be a big savings, then again it can be a big mistake. all depends on your health down the road.
My father has been in the hospital about 6 times in the last two years. His last visit cost $140k.
the biggest problem is if you don't have insurance and you come down with something you can never get it because nobody will cover a preexisting cond.

I don't have any right now, havn't had any since I moved to TX back in august. I cringe every time my son decides to jump off the porch though

the first year my son was born I couldn't believe how much it costs just for imunizations.
My insurance only covered $300 a year for "well baby" which is what imunizations were under. That didn't even cover one full round of shots. You have any idea how many rounds of shots a kid gets the first year!!! I think I had to cover like another $2k just in shots

Are you serious?:biggrin_2555: She intends to implement a forced purchase of insurance whether you can afford it or not. If you don't get it you will be fined.
