There was a time a couple years ago I was pulling 40/25 sets and it's common practice to back the pup to the dock dolly under the trailer, yea these were vans..

I showed up at one place to deliver my rolls of paper and ahead of me were two swift trucks and both had trouble backing up and I waited..

When they were done I backed the pup up first then the front box, for once I did them both in one shot, as I walked by the Swift "drivers" I said "see, that is how it is done" and kept walking..

I just dont get it. I mean, I dont claim to be the best at backing by any means. Heck everybody misses the hole every now and then but those guys are sad. I think the only time I've ever had that much trouble is back when I was driving with commercial carrier. I was pulling pneumatic tanks with dry cement and this one silo I had to pump off at was a pain and the guys were pricks. I had to make sure I was close enough to the silo to hook up my hose but not too close where it would kink up. And where the silo was there was a bunch of pre-cast cement barriers that I had to maneuver around. Once you got through all that crap, then you had to make sure the cab was 90 degrees to the trailer so other trucks could pass but that was a pain in the arss cuz you had to make sure the other hose was long enough to hook up to the BTU....I HATED delivering out there, it would always take me like 10-15 minutes to hit the sweet spot. But thats the only times.

There were times in New York City that I would have killed for a dock as easy as the ones at our store. Only dock #1 is tricky because there's not a lot of room to make a good setup for a sight side back. The rest are easy. The lines are clearly marked.

I'm not one to make fun of others, but it really made me wonder about a company that would send a driver out with a load for a dedicated account as LARGE as Wal-Mart who couldn't back worth a ************.

I will never claim to be an expert driver by any stretch of the imagination, because I make at least a few boneheaded moves each week I'm on the road. However........ The dumbest thing I ever saw any driver do was performed by a Swift driver.

I roll into a Hook in Virginia for some go juice, and every aisle was occupied. So I pulled up behind Super Swift and set my brakes to catch my logs up while waiting.

While I'm doing that, I'm keeping an eye on the driver as he fuels. He put the driver side pump in then walked over to the passenger side pump and repeats the process. Meanwhile he begins washing his windshield and all that good jazz.

Well I guess he heard the pumps stop, so he he walks back over to the driver side and finishes topping off his tank which I thought was pretty strange since I and most other drivers I see top off the passenger side first.

Obviously this was Swifty's normal routine as well, but he decided to spice things up a bit this day. And spice it up, he did. After topping off the driver side, he completely forgot about the other pump and pulled his Volvo on up to the other side along with the nozzle from the fuel aisle.

Heres the funniest one i have seen Swift ever do thus far.... (i wont hold my breath) They seem to be in a competition to 1 up each other ,, any way

in February this year i was running out to the Reckitt Benckiser in Phoenix AZ, shut down in Tumcumcari NM, when i got up the next morning i wasnt expecting it but there was a blizzard that blew into Albuquerque NM, soon as i got passed the Flying J, Traffic was at a complete Stand Still for about 3 hours 1 1/2 because of the wreaks and 1 1/2 because the Freeway got frozen over and they had to dig it out...

To My Suprise lol as we were creeping along and listening to the CB there were 4 Rerar end Accidents with in a 2 mile Strech on the WB side, and Who would of Guessed it would be Swift.. not just 1 but ALL 4 ACCIDENTS that did Alternate in a patteren 1 in hammer one in right 1 hammer 1 right lol my wife and myself couldnt Stop laughing..

In Wisconsin a few months ago, 2 SWIFT trucks are running together. The first one passes the scale sign and it shows "OPEN" By the time the second truck gets there it says "CLOSED". The second truck radios the first saying " The scale just closed" so the first trucks flys on by. Needless to say ... The scale Master shoots out of the scale, lights a flashing and there sits SWIFT on the side of the road.

    SWIFT = See Who's In ******* Trouble

and on a side note .... Swing Wide, Its a ******* Trailer
    Stop Whining, I'm ******* Trying

We all have our moments, some just don't have to log em'.

That IS priceless! LMFAO I struggled with backing as a newbie, but I could'nt imagine asking someone to drive my truck for me. Kinda like asking someone to sleep with yer wife.

We did a 14 hour run at school last week during our last week of school. We were in Atlanta going south on I-85 and just about to exit onto I-285 at "Spaghetti Junction." There was a SWIFT truck two lanes over and the instructor with us told us, "Sure Wish I'd Finished Training," and said that was what Swift stood for. Right then, the genius decided he needed to exit. He swerved over TWO lanes, had two cars in that lane that had to jam the brakes to avoid him and he missed the front of our truck by less than a couple of feet. That day we also learned from our instructor how to use the air horn for about 20 seconds straight and some choice words to use on the CB... :biggrin_2559:
