    I think turn signals are optional in a lot of areas. Some places, I think they are almost a challenge.

    I taught all the children we've raised to drive except for our son. He wouldn't listen to me so we sent him to a driver school. He's the worst driver in the family. I won't ride in the vehicle with him if he's driving. Seriously, his driving makes me car sick. :biggrin_2552:

    I can honestly say my 17 year-old is a better driver than my 20 year-old.

    And as far as training.. you have to consider just WHAT they are supposed to be training. How to drive a truck safely? yah, 6 months is insane
    How to use the Qualcomm an follow company policies? Hech, 6 weeks experience is fine, if the guy can show that he knows what he's talking about.

    So - what's the trainer supposed to be teaching at Swift?

    Personally, a trainer should be expanding on what one learns at driving school. They should be expanding your backing skills, helping you learn how to properly deal with mountain grades, and winter driving. All new drivers should have someone with them for at least a couple of weeks in winter. There are so many little things that new drivers don't learn in driving school that the more experienced drivers can and should share as a trainer. Trip planning, real life logging, I could go on with this list, but this covers a good list of the things new drivers can learn from a good trainer.

    Oh, another thing a new driver can learn from their trainer is that it's really fun to lay on the air horn going past golf courses and driving ranges! It's really fun, and funny. I know, I learned this from the second trainer I had with Swift (I had to fire my first one).

    Swift is number 15 as far as size based on revenue.
    UPS is largest.

    Revenue != size.

    Size = number of employees. In this case, number of drivers. In which case, Swift wins - hands down.

    Baack Thanks this.

    That's based on drivers and miles driven in the US
