I saw a UPS flatbed a little while ago. I slowed down to take a closer look to make sure I wasn't mistaken. The flatbed trailer belonged to UPS too.

Not unusual to holler on the CB trying to give notice of a issue on a trailer, just to find a different name on the tractor. 9 out of 10 times you never get a response no matter which name you use, so they find on their own, if they actually look.

The UPS place near where I lived had Swift and other carrier's trailers in their lot from December to February to deal with the Christmas load.

By the way, there is NO DRIVER SHORTAGE.

Ya, they have been pulling them for years. I have seen them At steel shops. I don't know if they were drop and hook or live loaded. I can't see a high strung buster brown in a day cab waiting to do a live load.

Even big box, mega-carriers need loads moved. So on the load board it goes.
I ran a swift trailer, werner, ups and A JBhunt all in two weeks. If it ships and it's in a box send it into the wind.

    It's all money

It's starting to feel like the lunch counter at iron skillet now.

I think this all came together in my head subconsciously after a guy tried to convince me that the whole industry is ran by a morman family out of SLC

I called on a load listed on the DAT boards a couple weeks ago. San Francisco area up to Seattle and it was paying double the going rate for that lane. The broker said I would have to drop my trailer the night before to get it pre-loaded, then drive non-stop to Seattle and drop my trailer for them to unload it the following day. I said it can't be done non-stop, and he said that he forgot to mention they want team drivers. It was a UPS load.
