Romans, I have enjoyed reading your posts about KLLM. I am about about to finish up school and have been trying to narrow down my choices. After reading your experiences with KLLM I am going to call their recruiter tomorrow. Right now it is between Tyson's, KLLM, BTC out of Memphis, Watkins & Shepard, and Marten. I would be very happy with Tyson's considering that I live in NW Arkansas, but if that doesn't work out I hope for KLLM.

Being a recent school grad, I am heading to KLLM orientation on Jan 3rd. I noticed Romans said his truck had 600k+miles and is coming up 4yrs old. To someone like me, that sounds like a lot miles for a truck, but is it really? Just curious.

Well I just got back from orientation here in Atlanta and I should be headed out tomorrow to hit the road. I just got off the phone with my trainer, Joe and it sounds like we should be getting along alright. He's been driving since 75 and is 2 years younger then me and lives about 30mi south of me in FL and we seem to like the same music styles which will always nice and there is a chance I might be home for Christmas since he's a Owner/ Lease Opperator.
Everyone here at Atlanta seems to be pretty nice and seem like good people. And then there's Ed, for those of you coming to Atlanta he'll make Orientation something to remember. It's all been good and even a little fun at times.
Worst part is that the recruiters fell short on giving out info you might need. Like 10 years of job history instead of the 3 they ask for on the first application and SS# and birth dates for Dependants and Benifitories(sp?). And maybe any old medical work releases and stuff like that.

update, since I had to be reminded...lol. sorry. :biggrin_25522:

Currently in Alabama on my way to Atlanta. last week I crammed in 3100 miles and got a REALLY nice paycheck through the lease purchase.

This week was slow for me, but thats my fault for not turning down this load. lol. 1100 miles with 1 additional stop both at Walmart DC's. and they NEVER offload early. how much time? 4 days.

The also cutoff for getting my miles scanned in got 1 day shorter because of the Christmas week. so 1100 miles for me this week, BUT, I am already almost done with a 900 mile trip I scan today, and since my next cutoff for scanning is Thursday at 6 am, I am getting an early start.

truck is running good, KLLM has been treating me with respect and integrity. Nothing to complain about except for the girl waiting for me to get done with this so we can go have breakfast...lol. :biggrin_25523:

(I rerouted myself 60 miles so I could come through Alabama to see her.)

be blessed guys! keep rolling and be safe!

    update: New Years Eve

on my third run for the week. Good news, its a D+H. Bad news, still cant drop it until the 3rd. but should have a decent number of miles by Thursday, so whatever...lol.

been doing the North, South, back again route on I-65 alot lately. finally got a load that goes to atlanta, so should have some different landscapes..lol.

made $1600 last week with about 2600 miles. Would have been more, but snow, winter, snow, winter, and did I mention snow??? Not sure if my truck payments are going to start coming out this Thursday or next.... but even on the 2600 miles weeks, I should make about $1100(ish)

had to refuse my first load last night.... but in hindsight I shouldnt have. was 123 deadhead miles, with 638 going from Memphis to Ohio... delivered on the 3rd. I refused it because it meant sitting for two days after I go there... but I failed to remember that this is New Years weekend.... I wasnt going to find anything better....

so I ended up getting a drop and hook load with 183 deadhead miles, and 438 loaded going from west MS to Atlanta.... problem is.... due to New Years weekend, no one will be there so I can drop it til Monday (the 3rd) :biggrin_25523:

kinda shafted myself out of like 200 miles... (ya live and learn)

as soon as I drop the load though I need to try and get routed back to Jackson.... the accelerator has begun to stick.... (kinda like what the Toyota's did in the news).... so gotta go get that checked out, which will limit my miles this week.... BUT, I get the last $1000 bonus segment this check, AND the $300 Xmas bonus for working through the holidays... so added to whatever miles I get I should get a hefty settlement check.

so far... NOT regretting my decision to go lease purchase..... however... I am getting alittle homesick, since I havent taken any hometime since I started this adventure back in the first week of Sept... Couple more weeks until I go visit family in Minnesota for 4-5 days....

Romans: as I said privately as quick as you can get dropped the better the load you have is one you can hustle.
What I forgot was your last post about Alabama. So enjoy the weekend as well. One thing is I do not discuss specific shippers, receivers & cargos on an open board. The reasons for this are many, just a word on that.
