The Mexican Joint on the other side of the Taco Hell from the Hotel, has some pretty good grub. Also there's a Donut Place just about a 1/4 mile north of the hotel that has killer breakfast and good service. Or the Walmart on the Northside of the Hotel on the other side of the clinic is a good source for food and drinks, since you have a fridge and mickey-wave in the hotel room. The Physical and stress/ strength test is pretty easy. If an old fart like me and my old trainer can do it, you can. Just do exactly what they tell you. On the paperwork, stay with Donnie or whoever is in charge of the class. Don't try to get ahead. Just follow instructions. Lunch is provided. Generally better than cardboard with rice and gravy. And the free "breakfast" at the Hotel is.... well.... Free! That is, if you like Little Debbie Honey buns, weak-#$$ coffee, and cold cereal. Have fun and just roll with the punches. On the last day, you will be assigned your trainer and given his cell number and when to meet him at the Terminal to get on the truck. Mine was tied up on a run and a 36 hour re-set on his hours, so I got to stay in the hotel, doing nothing for 2 more days. But instead, I went in the van to the terminal when they came to pick people up. I was able to scout around and learn the place, meet a few drivers and dispatchers and get a heads up on somethings. Good Luck!

you had honeybuns?!?!?!? #### you were spoiled! there is cereal, OJ, coffee, and english muffins..... but I can make do with that. :biggrin_25515:

The lunch actually impressed me... (was pretty good AND filling)

Donnie is no longer here, and a new training director (Charles Felder) is now handling training.

This morning I just about had a stroke though.... I have been monitoring my blood pressure since beginning CDL school a month ago. I have been running a consistent 135/88 during this time

I go to get my DOT physical today and it was 162/110!!!!!!
so they gave me 10 minutes to try and (relax) and took it again...
    160/100
    :biggrin_25521:
at this point I am FREAKING out! I have put EVERYTHING I am into this (I mean EVERYTHING LITERALLY)

So I am praying and listening to some worship music for the next ten minutes... grabbed some water, and laid down...

she comes back in and on the third attempt I got a 132/68 :biggrin_25514:

Praise God! because I was STRESSING!

day one down! Day two coming up!

That BP stuff can be pretty darn fickle. I had some similar issues when I was in to visit with my doc a couple weeks ago. Go figure.
Glad you got it under control and get to go another day!

Yeah that happened with me and a few others in class. It's the stress of the whole physical thing and them telling you your livelyhood depends on this physical, etc. Tell the Doc you get very nervous in Doctors Offices, and they give you some time to lay down and chill out and keep checking it till it goes down.
Then I did the pee test, and my urine was very dark. They asked, Are You a Diabetic. I said, No, I had about 8 cups of coffee this morning and have been holding it for hours, knowing I was going to have to pee in a cup. She checked it with the glucose strips, and said, well I guess you're right. Your blood sugar is normal, but you need to drink more water. I said I do. It's just been passed through coffee grounds before I drink it.

I hate being away from internet access for so long... but I hope that will change when I upgrade and get my own truck (will look into the mobile wi-fi)

Writing this from Michigan. We headed out of Jackson on the last leg of a delivery, so I got about 3.5 hours of drive time right off the bat. Dropped off, hooked an empty, then set out for the pickup location the next day but because of a long delay in loading, I only got about 3 hours drive time that day. Trainer drove the rest so my 10 hour would be reset, then we slept and I drove 8 hours yesterday.
(am starting to get ALOT more comfortable going around cities, and in traffic.)

I drove the school trucks no problem! but this clutch is taking some getting used to. (only on the low gears)

I am really considering the lease purchase program.... (I know I know, that is a COMPLETE reversal from what I said a few weeks ago)....

so far I am really liking KLLM. Hope to be there a long time.

(thought getting used to the ins and outs of the comdata card is starting to unnerve me.) cannot wait until the direct deposit is set up on my debit card.....
