FYI Listen to the drivers msg. Jim Richards says they don't have any trucks available. Things have been pretty dead. The NE is back to beer & chicken, and other junk.
I should have heeded home early for Thanksgiving.

By the by Romans all the best to you and welcome to KLLM.

Thanks, anyone else have anything to say that might make my finale decision any easier? All info is welcome, I didn't think there would be that many companies out there looking for student drivers but there are to my surprize.

That's what I'm doing . Trying to find out about Kllm. As to miles and hometime and how long out? How they treat drivers. Stevens is my other choice and I 'm trying to decide.

    UPDATE to end ALL updates!!!

Rolled into the Jackson yard early AM today. Time for upgrade....

missed 11 questions on the written test, but got closer on the trip planning than anyone else had... all in all, aced it.

Road test time...... Willie took 3 of us, told us to couple with the trailer and look over the rig. the other two were going straight to the drivers seat... (until they saw me start to do a walk around)...then they waited for me...

Willie walks up and says "We set?" Both the other two pip in and say yep! I chimed in and said "nope". This puzzled Willie and he asked why not.

I stated that the tractor (07 Columbia) had a tire off the rim. Showed Willie, and earned a BUNCH of brownie points for doing a proper pre trip. I drive first. (figured my nerves would psych me out if I let them, so I asked to drive first)

Drove out of the terminal and down a few streets, made 2 rights and a left... then Willie told me to stop.... (I was kinda freaking out, BUT, I KNEW I didnt do anything wrong) I was confident, I learned the timing on the new truck, didnt rush my turns, didnt speed, I felt like I did REALLY well)

Apparently, if Willie believes you are in control of the truck, and are comfortable with its controls, he doesnt need to see much more.

others took their turns driving.... now onto the backing...

first guy started backing... set up like it was almost a straight back... but still froze... and then said "no truck can fit inbetween those trailers"....

then I jumped in... drove around, set up a 45, used 2 pull ups to reposition the tractor, and backed it perfectly between the two other rigs/trailers...

jumped out... Willie gave me the thumbs up. Then went back to my written test...

so now I am upgraded... but there are no trucks available??? :biggrin_25511:
next lease class is Dec 1st. guess I am taking some hometime....

I guess, I was lucky. Upgraded on Oct 22, got my truck right of way. I decided to work for a week after the training and made $812 in 7 days. I am SE regional.
My trainer was Robert Hovey. He is great. I told him that I have problems backing and shifting (as probably most of us), and I will help him to make money if he teaches me to do it right.
I drove full time since day two. We did a lot of team driving. Newer will do it again...
My trainer was super clean. We stop for showers every other day.
One more thing - I am a women, and been with a guy in the truck for six weeks worried me. But I never felt uncomfortable with my trainer.
Anyway, I am glad training is over and now I am working. Love the company so far.

    Gears Thanks this.
