saying NO to cheap freight

The "Let's Strike" and "Stop hauling Cheap Freight" topics are never ending sources of amusement.

I have this idea guys, lets stop hauling cheap freight, and if that doesn't work, let's go on strike!!

 

I might have ripped you a new one if you didn't include you wages in your cost per mile....But I doubt seriously that I ever ripped you for including it.

There are too many morons in this industry that DON'T include wages in their CPM and most of them are the same idiots that stand around whining about there being "No money in trucking!"

 

South texas has been bad for livestock for months now too, $2.50 or less, and other places less than $2.00, its rediculous.... but there is no shortage of morons hauling for that... Concrete cowboy dipsh@#^ hauling for nothing to keep the wheels turning... Hopefully they will be out of business soon because they #### sure aren't making any money.... They are the same ones that use the word "backhaul"....

 

Maybe their trucks expenses are less going one direction that the other.

I didn't know for sure. I noticed my trucks always run faster when they are headed toward the house so I thought maybe someone had a truck that ran cheaper when headed home.

Someone earlier acted like it was a waste to talk about not hauling cheap freight.

I think some of us will do everything we can to get better rates and not support cheap freight. Unfortunately some just don't understand the concept.

I believe owner operators should never let the word backhaul leave their mouth and should chastise any broker who uses that word to justify cheap freight.

 

One just never knows!

Amen there! It's hard enough out there with freight from some areas already being lower paying (Florida comes to mind), without adding the insult of that stupid word 'backhaul'. What do they call it when you're not headed home?

 

For some reason in the past month I have been in areas that Backhual Direct has loads. They call me and I will not even talk to them about their rate. That name just sets me off. I'm sure I'm over the top on this but something about signing a contract with a business with that name seems like selling my soul.
