I don't care about gross. I care about net. Running more miles for same gross equals less net I don't care how you slice it or what fuel millage you get. On that subject if you lower your rate because you get better fuel millage than me you have affected your gross and net. Why not run for the same rate as me so your gross and net are really good.

I don't think he owns a truck. These are theoretical ideas he has come up with after listening to some guy on the radio. Typical driver mentality: more miles means more money. If he ever gets one of his own he will either figure it out, or he will become a few brokers favorite truck driver.

I agree. When you hear guys keep talking about miles and thinking the more you turn you earn. It's usually a dead give away on a fleet driver. Yea miles play apart, but if that's all your concerned with you'll sink that ship in a years time.

Well hell why not charge $5 a mile and only run 1000 miles a week?

Matt, don't listen to those Schneider Lease guys thinking that $2 contract freight is gravy.. You'll be surprised what you could achieve with Spot Market rates & so on.

    281ric Thanks this.

if you want to work more for less or the same take home: wait Til Mickey D's is paying $15 an hour, then tell them you'll work for ten as long as they give you 60 hrs per week & you don't even want time n a half for over time! You'll be saving fuel money commuting and you can brag about that to all the burger flippers that question you on your decision.

I'm guessing your being sarcastic, the sad part is that is exactly what you need to be doing. when you run for 4-5$ per mile you get the job done right so the customer is happy, your happy, and your equipment gets the attention it deserves. You can focus on what's important, the task in hand. Instead of rushing around for the next load that pays just as s(?&ty as the one you just did.

Try it. You'll love it, if you can get more though.
