what type of equipment do pull ? I hope its not a dry van because it would be tough in this climate to consistently get 1.78 cpm or 1.90 cpm with out doing alot of sitting and DH

Having your own direct customers will do you know good with only one truck a customer is only going to call so many times and when you cant haul for them because your 500 miles away they will stop calling been there done that

Trucking is going down hill i was geting $2 a mile on a step deck 8 years ago and fuel was not $4.00 a gal oil change was $140 and tires run around $280 a tire every sence 911 freight has gone down hill brokers take more and more off the top all my own customers i charge $3. a mile and they are happy with that because the broker before me was charging $3.40 a mile how many loads yall see posted at $3 a mile? so that just goes to show you how much brokers take

I have been responding and loosing RFPs. Some of these at lower than I would consider good but worked for me for one reason or another. But in all cases brokers have won the business at sub-$2 rates with some below $1.50. Now these are van. On the flat side I didn't bid but saw plenty of numbers. Nothing over $2.50 on steel and pipe loads.

Sure, still some good rates but it is far from the norm that shippers are paying these rates. Even on a couple lists with steel shippers as approved carrier. Thought it would be great but nothing over $2.40/mile.

Even with the GOOD $ rates and good customers still plenty of RATE cutters on the phone trying to steal them away.

And DIESEL DAVE , I did not MISS the point you were making , just tired of some of the BS and if I no longer want to be reminded of it I unsubscribe to the THREAD.

We do not allow arguments started on other forums to be continued here. I expect every one to act like adults and stop attacking each other. I have had to delete way too many posts in the last page of this thread. Stay on topic please and leave the personal stuff at the door.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.
