yes, the weigh station is usually open in gilroy (south bound).. the garlic farm (monterey rd) is right after the ws south bound on 101, the next one is the pilot about 22 miles south of the garlic farm, Hegenbrener I-880 ex 36 is about 45 mile north of the garilc farm. at the moment i dont recall the ws open .. hegenbrener can be a tough spot to get in and out of .. last time I was there an auto hauler bottomed out his trailer in the exit.. blocking the majority of it..could still get around him tho.. regardless I-880 ex 36 - oakland- may work the best

Call a local moving company and see who they use.....probably a private scale around somewhere that will weigh you out.....

the cooler where you loaded didn't have a scale....you don't know your empty weight full of fuel , in truck and reefer.......with that info you can get close, as long as you have and idea of the weight you loaded.

Most shippers have the nearest scale posted, or ask. If the clerks do not know, then ask other drivers. If there are any around.

Agreed on the "get to know your truck". I only have one air pressure gauge on the drives. I know how much I can put in the box and be legal. (assuming the shipper weight is accurate and subject to fuel level).

Once loaded I look at the drive pressure/weight, making sure the air ride has filled and settled and trailer is on level ground. If the drive weight is half the load weight or greater then I know the load is balanced, or at least legal, with the tandems at the needed length for the route.

At that point you can call the state scale and ask them if you can scale there since they are the closest scale. Being confident that you are legal.

Or just ask them when they close.

Turned out- as I suspected- that the shipper had a scale. They should have as they are a waste paper recycler. I was 33900 on the drives even with the tandems all the way fwd. Had room to move the 5 wheel but didn't have to. Got the green light at Gilroy- Whoo hoo!
