Why should a business provide their service for free? If you firmly believe a business should donate their resources then perhaps start your own scale company and allow truckers to use them free of charge after you pay to install and maintain them.
Scaling at a weigh station while it is closed?

That's my point, you know you are overweight or think, you pull in to see how much you are over?
-
Why would be taking a load anywhere other than to a certified scale first, unless you had absolute certainty that you weren't overweight?
For example I hauled 2 pallets of aerospace tape (@10degrees no less) at 850lbs per pallet. Overweight? Impossible. Fuel bonus? Definitely!
If something don't feel right, it probably isn't.JolliRoger and wifi_guru Thank this. -
I think you and I both know the answer to that, pal. The 1st thing I learned, is never volunteer at a scale. I'm sure even if closed, a call center in Mexico is monitoring it anyway. While I think I see what this person was doing, scaling out their truck for free, just in the wrong place,
, personally, I couldn't think of a more foolish thing to do.
I did some pretty green things too, but never pulled into a closed scale.

And maybe you should not charge for your services as a trucker.
Or is turn about not fair play to you?drvrtech77, Crude Truckin', dunchues and 3 others Thank this. -
free shower gonna cost the truck stop more in janitorial labor and water than printing a scale ticket
-
I think that’s a silly question. Yeah I’d prefer a cat scale but if a closed scale is closer or something, why not use it?Speedy356 Thanks this.

i think lumpers should be free and are a scam. i mean after all why should you pay for a store to unload there own product right??? it all comes down to there providing you a service wich is not free for them. when you swipe that CC at vendors they pay a certain percentage for you to use that card it's just incorperated into the price of your items that's called convenience!!!
