Sometimes. The closest cat scale is 150 miles away. With 2 dot's enroute and 1 local out of service.

I always wondered if parking at a weigh station could result in an inspection or a forced weigh. I had one scale master tell me that of course he can't speak for ALL inspectors, but at the chicken coup I was parked at, you had to PASS the scale to get into the parking area. He said, that means you passed the scale. We can't force you to come back and scale if we were closed at the time you came by. I thought that was interesting. In fact when leaving he stood out and pointed to the bypass lane and made SURE I didn't cross over the scale. Like doing so would have resulted in a small nuclear explosion or something.

They can't do that. They can't prove who was driving the truck unless they get your information. The truck doesn't get the overweight violation, the driver does.
Overweight violations can't be given by anyone other than a certified DOT person. -

When I started driving. I was told NEVER park at the scales. You're on their property and they can do what they want. I'm guessing dot rest areas would also apply.
My company tried to make me pay for my overweight. I said nah. I called you 4 times before I even left shipper.
I was actually legal except for that particular state.201, RockinChair and Last Call Thank this.
