Is there any specific way or "trick" to bring doubles onto a scale station? I've only drove sleeper/53ft and never ever payed attention when doubles went on the scale. Do you just place the whole rig on the scale at once?

    thx

Why do you need to scale doubles? I assume you are talking about pups, not 48's or 53's?

most scales are WIM(weigh in motion). There is usually one about a mile from the station that does a preliminary read. As you get to the bird house, just do the speed limit which is usually 3-5 mph, unless the scales are static and they want you to come to a complete stop. IIRC the ones in florida, its maintain 35 or something like that...

Honk horn in one second intervals while crossing scale to alert officers of doubles or triples.

I'll be hitting the ones in Florida. I've been across tons of stations, just not with doubles. Was curious is all, thanks for the help.

I'm starting a linehaul position. And ye, doubles will only be pups .... for now ;)

That's what I needed to know. +1 thanks!

I have never seen anyone scale double pups, I pulled some fedex doubles and never scaled because they never weighed over 15K, a piece.

Yeah, maybe not over 15k on paper.

But you'd be surprised whay you may find if you scale your pups regularly. I trust nothing that's printed on paper.

On a different note, it's important to keep one thing in mind when scaling pups. If the dolly axle, and the rear trailer axle both scale heavier individually then the front trailer axle, your trailers are backwards, regardless of what your manifest says. This has served me well for years, and whenever I've had this situation, switched them and reweighed, the axle weights have then always read progressively smaller like they should.

It was normal for me to drag two 20k pups. General freight pups can be cubed out, and if you have some ####### who goes nose heavy then you have to scale it because it usually will be over on the drives.
