Scania 124 470 trouble....

I had a similar problem with an older 124 where sometimes u turned the key and nothing happened, turned out to be a broken wire in the steering column , in older ones they can break from flipping up the steering constantly and the wires eventually break or are damaged

 

The 470 six cylinder turbo compound is quite popular here.
About 7% better on fuel on long routs.
When it gives trouble they just replace them.
They are expensive and 2 days down time.
No personal experience just what I have been told.
