Unfortunately we can’t get a truck with high hp here.
What was your weight when you got 6.8mpg

Usually 40 ton. If hauling medicine at either 2000 pounds or around 14000 we got close to 9 average. Keep in mind this would be for a model 2000 century with 515 detriot rockwell meritor automatic and all computer. She would idle 90 hours on 335 gallons waiting or run 2350 on that much fuel. Meaning we can fuel anywhere in the USA one time. Which has to be wider than Africa over there.

When you talk about 54 ton I am reminded of some container loads that tipped me at about 62 or so ton which was measured in VA scales before we fell through as it broke under me that day. They could only write for about 62 or so ton against the company for 3000 dollar fine. Our max gross is 40 ton. I had a 65 mack with about a 200 horse detriot, a 9 speed and probably oh... 450 torque.

The tractor was totaled after a 11 hour trip over 230 miles to Baltimore on our east coast. That container was loaded full with meat for Bremen. Never heard a word from the port that next day.

The reason for the 11 hour trip is simple. Im on the shoulder at 60+_ ton and the steering goes out at 27 mph, i needed to hold her at 25 or less maxed out in a low gear burning out the pyrometer at 1550 or higher on the small long upgrades in our Shenandoah Valley....

    My whole position is simple.

The minute you start talking 55 ton or whatever high weights, you need a big truck monster ordered and shipped to you import to handle that reliably. A scania is hardly one of those. Many companies tried them in the eastern mountains back in 1988 or so, they only lasted to about 1991. We broke so many of them in our American hauling. Sweden might like it but those trucks dont do well here.

I think once you get a good big horse truck, you might become more popular as a man whose truck as the most force in the mud over there in Africa able to push others out of being stuck. You understand?

The thing is in our market most trucks are either scania or mercedes benz actross
Which are pretty reliable for most of the application some are even used for heavy haul upto 100 tons thats 200,000 lbs thats why am a bit confident with the low hp figure.

The heavy haul Scania's will have a planetary drive.

Your cement bags will be on pallets?

Scania's normal diff's have a bad reputation in Europe.
Made lightweight and break easy just like the driveshaft.

    You will stretch the chassis?

i will have to extend the chassis since all are tractor units so that i get a rigid with a drawbar trailer to handle the weight legally.
    The issues with differentials
would adjusting the diff ratio help
