There not anymore efficent then what we drive. I would love to see what mpg a c.o. doing 75mph/120kph would be. There no more functional than ours because of the street system we have.

I would drive a cab over as a city driver. There are none really to speak of here.

Here i think you might be wrong.

I think Scania CO will get poorer mpg than Scania conventional (on exactly the same settings).

    Logically thinking

I remember Scania made some windtunnel tests, COE won. In conventionals air have to change direction many times more than in COEs, every change makes turbulence and turbulence makes drag.

The guys here don't buy classics for mpg. If a driver wants 7-8+ mpg /3-3.5kml they buy a truck thats shaped like a bullet. Classics are bought for the way there built and look. Then we gear them to get the mpg that can be had out of the design.

If the fuel consumption is less with a co with would be marginal. Yes making money is part of trucking. I would say it is second to enjoying what we do or drive. So far we (myself included) are working with if and propably.

The order of purchasing a truck for me would be.
Function, looks, engine, trans, axle gearing.

I don't understand the look part, efficiency is the most important for me, I don't care about the looks. Enzo Ferrari said race car is beautiful when it wins, same applies for trucks.

What's the way they are built thing? Why don't they built those bullet shaped trucks like classics?

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with Scanias new 730hp motor! Who really cares what one guy like over another? Its oppinions and obviously if V8 Lenny drives a Scania hes probably gonna like it better then a pete and vice versa for people here. You guys have bias oppinion neither sides have much experience with the other and even if they did who cares cuz its an oppinion

So in Europe you can't have both looks and efficiency? Personally I don't like the looks of the Scania in the pics. Not saying it's a bad truck it just looks kinda stupid (like a guy with a huge forehead).:biggrin_2559: But being how most of the US has roads/streets that were designed for a vehicle larger than a horse carriage, having super short cramped truck isn't necessary. I mean I could live in a 24' shipping container if I had to, but why would you want to if it wasn't necessary?

And no the bullet trucks are not built like the classics. Plastic-plastic-plastic. Engine crammed under the windsheld wrapped in more plastic. What takes 10min to fix on a classic takes an hour to get to on an aero truck. Again just like the Europe trucks, aero trucks have their place, just not in my fleet. If that style and design works for you, great. But what would be the advantage of a super short Scania here driving 75mph across Utah?

I love the sound of it shifting. I've always liked the scanias of the mid to late 80's.
