i have seen the daf inside, and yes it has a huge cab, also the magnum but i don't really like the look of it.
But i would be happy driving any truck at the moment as long as i leave my iveco. Worst truck i have ever driven. Fiat sucks big time, cheap plastic, ugly cabs and lots of malfunctioning. They cost less than other truck but in the long time they cost way more, and at the moment they are made in spain, germany and turkey. Wait in a couple of year when they will move the production to china

Why do the posters on this thread keep say scania never was in North America or wouldn't come here? I remember seeing ad for there truck in the trade papers back in the late 80's. I think they had a dealer on I78 in Pennsylvania out side of Allentown.
I still see them around the ports in new jersey.
Why they left I don't know. -
Scania has been present in America from 1986 to 1993
These were the trucks series 2 and 3
there was not too much success..
A total of 700 trucks sold
were offered p r i t cab
( p low mounted coe , r high mounted coe t-bounted )
g cab was not offered.....
Scania has had bad service network
Dealers were mostly over a mack
most of the truck was on the east.....
most of them were 112 333 or 363 hp ( 11L 6inline engine)
American laws of ecology are not allowed to use scania v8 engine
( 388 404 420/430 and 453hp)
Scania is offered only own components ( engines gearboxes axles suspension) and American customers are not accustomed to this
Transmissions were synchronized.....
still cabins were small for American long line transports
series 2 6x4 trucks were offered with only spring suspension
longest ratio differential for 6x4 truck was rb662 + r663 3.4:1
6x2 =r770 3.25 3.5 3.89 4.25 ......
strangest part of the story is that the mack offered some scania engines
under his own name (di8, dsc11, dsc14 v8 )
data from 1990 indicates that it is about 20,000 engines a year
on forum hanktruck pictures
one member gives the exact model of the engine as it is a mack name
engines were not identical to scanias there were some differences in the cylinder head ( scania v8 has 8 head covers)

Hay found this site www.scania.com.mx/ looks like they are selling the topline in Mexico.
I wonder in they meet US EPA regulations? Only down side is the 25% import tariff. -
Scania in other Latin American countries offer only Highline
as Scania in Mexico has its own plant facilities independent of Argentina and Brazil, it is possible that there are some differences between the trucks
but anyway i doubt that they offer topline
-
They look like a pretty good truck.
Would make a good rigid for local deliveries with 700hp
