I bought DAF XF95s and CF85s because I got them cheaply on auction.
Bought a couple with about 130 000km at 40% of new price no problems yet +- 350 000km.
Also bought a few with about 400 000km at 20% of new price , +- 650 000km now these have all had problems relating to the Astronic transmission.
Usually just wiring issues but have had to throw money at them as agents cant pin point problem and just replace parts.
No engine or other problems yet.
All Euro 3.
They have already paid for them self's so I cant complain to much.
Would I swap them for Scania's ?
Any-day!
Scania v8 730hp

I'd like to point out that these dafs were serviced properly and were looked after, the first one that need a rebuild at 230,000 I don't know what the cause of that was but the second one it does seem like 500,000 - 800,000 seem to be the life of those pacaar engines depending on the work they've done, a guy I know has a 2006 with 565,000 on the clock, that too needs new oil rings, leave it tick over for a few minutes and it will fill the place with smoke, on top of that the back up service is terrible , you are right, I don't know why people go back for more, the other pacaar trucks here have alright engines, erf have cummins and foden have cat, just a pity everything else falls off and are rough to drive,

Anyone seen White trucks driving around Germany and England with diguise panelling ? Heard a rumour that they're new volvos , anybody hear anything? Impressive looking truck!
-
Nice truck. I'd take that over a Freightliner made in Mexico!
-
Which one?
-
Aren't all Freightliners made in Mexico? LOL
-
Aren't some KW's built in Mexico to? Or did they stop that?
-
I don't know that to be honest, I actually saw a freightliner for the first time the other day, I don't know what model, god they're tiny! I got a picture if it next to a scania I was driving, I don't know how to upload the pic from my phone though, any ideas how I can do it?

I really hope u don't have the same trouble as I did, look out for high oil or water consumption , also look to see if they are getting smokey after been lift idling for a while, these are usually the first signs of trouble
