Man I feel your pain...I'm still in a research phase about schools and companies to go start with . Currently at 49 testing I'm like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs . One thing I do know , on here this forum and the advice theese ops have gave me a whole different outlook to it all . Yes there are a lot of nay sayers and some of it cuts to the bone . But all in all in here from all walks of life are some of the best group of people I've ever came across.
You can and will pass the test . Just beleive in yourself and take heed to the advice given of the ops here . Weather it be good or bad . When you weigh it out i seem to find there is always more good then bad on here.
You can do it , I am having the hardest time just doing online practice test . But I also catch myself at the age of stuck in a rut about learning new things . I will definitely look to see saturday to read you have your cdl's .
Scared nervous and just a big mess!

Suck it up and pass the test. I guarantee you the road test is nothing compared to your first time running snow and ice, what will you do then? -
As for the test, just relax. Sure, the test is stressful, but a lot of things are. When you get out on the road the first days/weeks/months and nothing but new situations that can be stressful. If you're not calm under pressure things can go real bad. Cool head and no drama. -
I was scared of my cdl road test at first I passed with a 88 first try now I'm scared of backing lol and not finding a parking spot so I drive 9 hours max then start looking for a easy parking spot
-
I always have considered backing as the best way to display your skills....
anybody can drive a truck straight down the road.....
look for the hardest spots first... they are always empty... -
Tow...i get where you are coming from, but 1st priority is to protect cdl, not hit anyone or anything. If I see a straight line back that is easy or a hard spot to back into im taking straight line back every time. Unless it makes it hard to get out of the spot in the morning
-
I can relate but you need to conquer this skill and not let it intimidate you...there will be times that the hard way is the only way.....
last winter i had a driver stop in front of where i was parked and actually came to my truck and asked me to park it in the spot beside me. After thinking about it i decided i was better off doing it than letting him hit me. He told me no one had ever taught him backing....
yes... he was driving for one of those chicago companies....tinytim Thanks this. -
Yeah I get that but I run regional for Staples. DC to store. I have to back into docks that aren't even made for 48 footers lol. Alot of what my instructor use to call ### puckering moments
tow614 Thanks this. -
I know. I did a lot of those staples runs while i was with gordon.
crappiejunkie Thanks this. -
This may sound corny Mr O.P. but picture yourself i.e.imagine in your mind doing it right-and you will. So far as being nervous..I've been doing this awhile and not sometimes...not once in awhile...but EVERY TIME I go to pick/deliver in say L.A. or any major city for that matter..I get nervous. I admit it. There's no shame feeling this way but the trick is-make it work for you as fear...if one uses it to their advantage..will keep ya sharp!! Good Luck!! You'll do just fine..
