They must not have good insurance. I know a fuel hauling outfit here in Winnipeg that needs 3 years minimum verified class 1 experience before their insurance will let them hire the driver.
Scariest job ad I've seen

But don't forget, Kamloops has a big long grade main highway right through town. And if they were supplying gas stations, then there's plenty of big hills throughout the town as well. And if the bozo rookies driving the gas wagons decided to cruise the highways outside of town, then they could go east for a while, or even north. But if they went west, I know which corner not far from town where they'd roll first. And I wouldn't want them being idiots going up or down the Coq.

Canucklehead Thanks this.

Of course, when the speed on the Coq was 110 kph, I'd just put it in 8 direct and let the ISX stay at 120 kph all the way down with the load of beer in a maxed tridem I was taking to Kamloops.

I think back in the 80's a truck lost its brakes coming down Columbia Street and wiped out a few people.

I checked the BC property tax assessment page earlier this year. The beaten up (at the time) old little house I grew up in back in the 60's (built in 1919) in Kitsilano in Vancouver, with the standard 90 x 33 foot lot, and 1200 sq ft spread over 3 floors, was assessed for 3.7 mil.
Insane. -
I could never understand why anyone would want to live in Vancouver TBH. Hope is just about as close as I'd consider living to there.

I live in Chilliwack now. Even from here it takes an hour to get to Surrey where most of the yards are. Put that together with an almost daily gong show parking lot on the highway, and it does become a long commute back and forth. Add another half hour to Hope. Doesn't sound like much time wasted. But when you've got that pretend 10 hour break, it does make you decide whether or not to eat or take a shower when you zap home.
Jazz1 Thanks this.
