i was called today and offered a job by my instructor from the school i attend. My question is? would it be wrong for me not to go to the co that has already offered me a job and paid for my physical and i am supposed to leave out next weekend for orientation? I am really having a hard time trying to decide on what to do because i dont want to say no to someone who has been around me for the last few months and know what my skills are vs some co that wants to see if i am able to make it.the new offer is much more than the previous one and the guy who offered it is a really good guy and i believe the co will run me so i will make money and be home more and the equipment is 09-10 peterbilts. any help would be appreciated. thanks...........

I know you said the school you attend but your signature says 3 years. Do you have previous experience?

If you "Really" know and trust your instructor it's a No-Brainer, BUT if the other company has already Paid for a physical they MAY be able to put something on your DAC. So make sure you have the local spot locked up (As in Hired) before you break it off with the first company. IMO.

This is correct, and I had it happen to me!!

"They said" I worked for them, which I never did. So now, fast forward a little bit. I fill out other applications, they do a DAC background check. Now since I did NOT mention "that company", when the potential new employer did a background check??

They "found" the company I never worked for. End result? NO JOB from the "potential new employer". They said I was "hiding" something and falsifying an application!!!

Then you need to list them on the application, but somewhere state you never did actually work or get any compensation from that company. That would show you were not trying to hide anything.

Again, a driver not know the regulations.

Read page 61 and that area. Even gives you the FMCSA forms to use for it.
    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safety-security/eta/index.htm

In the driver qualification file, 391.23(j)1 and 2

You can place a request for correction of erroneous history in your file. And the "employer" must correct it.

391.23(j)3 and 4 are the rebuttal and page 60 has the form.

No one can blame you for going to a better job. You do know that any monies that a company spent on you will be recuperated if you leave them and go somewhere else? That's something you'll need to talk with them about. Just be sure to check all the items the other job has. Look at retirement, medical, dental, savings plans, and any other benefits. Do not base your decision on how well you like the guy. When it comes to your career you have to be one sided.

Ouch! Reading this almost made me pass out. I just finished training with SNI and I talked with my DBL and said OTR is not for me and long story short, I want to go to TX and work in the oilfields. I guess I should have known it wouldn't be that simple. I've had a nagging worry about something showing up on my DAC and now I have to pay back my training pay also? It's only right that I have to pay it back but I feel like a big jack--- for not knowing this ahead of time. Oh well, all the more reason to get to work in TX as soon as possible. Glad there are people with more sense than me on this site that take the time to point this stuff out.
