Hi I just moved to Arbutus I am saving up for school at Allstate. I am working 12 hour shifts. I heard we drive 3 days and take 1 day off, when you are out driving, do you go home every day? Or do they pay for you to stay at hotels and other locations? I was going to get a dog and I do not want to be away from the house. Can you fill me in on what the schedule is like as far as taking care of animal. Thanks.

Need more details; are you in Maryland? Put your location on your profile.
What type driving job do you want?
Many companies let you take the dog with you in the truck.
Companies have minimum hiring ages; are you over 21,22,23?
How long is the school at Allstate; 160 hrs. or what?

Please don't get a dog, you being away from the house 8 to 14 hours a day will not be good for the dog.

Was fine for Tiny, she loved it and she loved the attention everybody gave her, other truck drivers, mechanics, and shippers and receivers oh and some of the till booth attendants. But I have a small dog and she went out often for walks.Don't know how it would be for big dogs though.

Baltimore. The Allstate program is 6 months. Im on a low budget right now but what is it like if you want to work like a 40 hour week or less? No one lives with me Another words enough time at house to take care of the dog. What is your schedule? Have you had other schedules before that? And do you work in Baltimore

I've never had a 40 hr. week in trucking because I like long haul runs.
Those jobs are there though. Local jobs around Baltimore should be plentiful.
Talk to the job placement office at the school and ask which companies are hiring for local jobs.
Old Dominion Freight Lines is usually hiring and it's one of the best companies around. You need doubles and hazmat endorsements for Old Dominion.
Why is Allstate 6 months; are you going just on weekends?
