Schneider, and the post I never thought I'd make

I don't like Schneider, the little 'incident' at the beginning of my trucking career with them soured me on them pretty strongly. I will not get into it, it was a personal issue between me and Schneider not a work one. Suffice to say the Equal Opportunity Co and ADA were involved.

But beggers at this point cannot be choosers, so my hubby signed on with them and went to orientation over the last few days. I refuse to work for them, I'd rather live out of my car. The only way I would ever work for them is if they apologized, as that is not likely to happen, thusly they get a solo driver instead of an excellent team. That is my stance on them.

But I have to admit as far as trucking companies go they are a bit more 'together', their orientation was long but pointed. The provided excellent reference material and training equipment, which I had not expected. They were PREPARED from day 1 for the people in orientation with both materials and hands on training. They seem to basically have their heads on straight.

I for one was a little annoyed that my hubby whom has been driving 10 years had 'homework' and I really don't like their trip planning requirements, or the amount of insane work that you have to do to fill in a Macro 18, frankly I don't believe their payrate is worth that level of detail. (And it makes me long for the paperless logs that were able to do all that calculation for me... cause I suck at math).

Still I suppose if the company continues in the pattern it has so far been, we can live with it for some semblance of sanity in the way they do business.

So I have to say, for a future Schneider driver, the company so far seems very organized, if not heavily laden with rules and policies, some of which I consider silly. Did I mention they bought my hubby a pair of work boots, actually took him to a store where HE got to pick from SEVERAL choices instead of one. That seems like such a small thing, but since they have rather strong policy on footware apparently they are willing to spend the $ to ensure the driver can comply, and GIVE the driver a choice of which they would like to wear rather then going the cheap way and buying 1000 of one kind. That to me shows a general caring of a drivers own wishes...

Hmm... maybe they are not the demonic cult I thought they were eh? Still won't change my position, so they still get a solo instead of a team. I wanted to go back out teaming, but we had a hard time finding a company that was wanting to take a full team right now... weird... never thought THAT would be the case. Hubby wants to be home more though so I guess it might work out. I get to stay home raise my son and get back into the hobbies I use to do that made money... well most of them... biggrin_25525

 

Pff no one wants to see me dance anymore. But I am not teaming for Schneider. I will find employment else where, many use that SBA I have

 

Yeah my hubby about flipped when I pointed out that their policy on facial hair and cowboy hats hahaha

Far as I am concerned any company that tells you how long your hair can be and what to wear... and pays the same as the other guys... hmm... how about no but thats his choice. Me I am looking at a cushy job as a attorney's assistant.
