Thanks so much for the info. I'm a veteran laborer so I have feet/heel problems and my back can go out easier than a normal person. It's the reason I'm becoming a trucker now- that and I always wanted to do it

Thanks for the info. I'm really considering Schneider because it seems like there orientation training is really good. I have no experience and I want to be fully knowledgeable of all responsibilities and all things safety. I really don't fully understand my rights as a trucker. All I can tell is that guys get pushed around by dispatch and I have no problem telling somebody off but I really don't want to be that miserable prick. I'd love to go local immediately but will I have the knowledge.

I was hoping u were from this area lol! Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what keeps u with Schneider? A lot of people talk #### but I'm hoping that it's a good company to work for. I'm not really interested in those haters negative crap. Thanks man

Where in NJ are you? I don't pull tanks but I might know of some companies near you. Or at least a place to park on hometime.
-
Thanks I live in Bridgewater near Piscataway and Edison. I have no experience graduating cdl next week

Ask Schneider about their intermodal division pulling containers out of the ports and rail yards.
Schneider Bulk is a good choice though because with tanker training you can easily get a local tanker job with some company after 12 mos. experience. -
Good idea, but they typically require 3 months experience for intermodal unless you're in Chicago. They update the job listing when they bend the rules for that. Better pay than van if you're willing to deal with the added BS. At least they don't have the JUNK Trac Lease chassis fleet out in NJ!

i live in NJ and there alot of local jobs in your area.just go on indeed and look.if you wanna do LTL,get a copy of your MVR and go see the terminal mgrs at places like estes, old dominion, saia, abf.theres no need to go otr.

i did a year of OTR bulk out of Keasbey. good people in that terminal, you won't be put in unsafe situations and I never had issues with home time, usually got home a half day to a full day early.
unless things have changed, all bulk drivers get 6 preferred days off, only difference is that otr had to stay out for a minimum of 11 days before coming home, regional and local guys could take them whenever.
they did offer local bulk jobs to new cdl holders up until a few weeks ago, that is always an option if you want local work down the road. i personally don't think bulk is worth it unless you're planning on a career doing tank work.PostmanMJC and Cuban_P Thank this.
